I know next to nothing about thread. I'm thinking of this as a gift for my wife. From googling, its seems that the length of thread on the spools is very short. Off by a factor of 10. What is the weight of the thread? Is it good for making hand bags, cloths etc? Thanks.

AriyamaHi @Ariyama, This thread is more for hand embroidery - for making handbags and clothes, the Aurifil 40wt would probably be better for her :) Hope this helps! (Edited this after: @Massdrop has a 40wt King Tut on right now, that's more what she'd need for clothes and bags)

AriyamaHi Ariyama! Sahm is right on (thanks Sahm!) about this. This thread is for embroidery or hand quilting, If your wife is into one of those activities, this would be a great gift. If she needs thread for sewing with a machine, the King Tut is a great all-purpose thread set.
You are the best spouse ever for buying thread for your wife!
