Finally a drop that is worth joining: a premium European fountain pen at a lower price than currently on offer – after all applicable promotional discounts – from Dutch, German, Spanish and UK stationers of note, as well as (secondarily) US retailers such as Nibs.com, Nibsmith.com, Pen Chalet, etc.; and charging only a nominal amount for shipping to Australia, even if Massdrop cannot or will not offer free shipping like it does for buyers in the US.
Putting my money where my mouth is, I ordered one of the Aurora 88 Minerali in Amber with a Stub nib in this drop. Now let's see if Massdrop will actually ship on/by the published estimated ship date!
freshmakerStubs and Double Broad were available in this drop; of that I can guarantee you. When I was looking to join the drop, there was the choice of Orange or Red pen with a Stub nib, and Italic nib on a Red pen. Since a Double Broad nib is of absolutely no interest to me, I didn't take note of in which colours of pen it was available.
Of course, now with few pens left in this drop to sell – down from eleven when I was looking – it is no surprise that only the most pedestrian nib size remains available.
When the Minerali were released they were a limited edition of 388 pens in each color. Are these still part of the limited release, or have they made an open edition?
This is a great price for a full-sized Aurora 88. Wasn't interested in a Minerali until I saw this deal.
I love Aurora fountain pens( I have several Optimas, and one 88) Excellent size, weight, and overall feel. Large capacity piston filler. Nibs typically are fairly wet writers. Can be a little feedback-prone, but can easily be smoothed.
I have the blue one, purchased somewhere else. If anyone is curious, it's a juicy nib, never skips and is incredibly well built. If you're thinking about it go for it.
