Are the chrome parts made of plastic or metal?

Akatsuki4Hmm. I was looking through the comments and @Thwargle said it was faux chrome plastic. Also the switches are Kailh, probably going to pass this one up even though it looks nice.

GrandManDanI'm not 100% sure it's plastic, but it's definitely not real chrome, or if anything chrome plated. The finish has started to chip on the left-hand side revealing some kind of copper-ish looking finish below the plating.

GrandManDanSide note, i'm VERY happy with it overall. EVERYONE at work comments how nice it looks on my desk. The typing experience only gets better as i get used to the round keys. The only downside is how incredibly loud the keys are.. Very typewriter sounding (i secretly love it)..

ThwargleThanks for the reply! Yea that is a bummer. I've been looking for an office keyboard. I probably should stay away from blue switches to begin with because they're loud but I love the tactile feel and sound so much.

GrandManDanWell so we should be asking: Are the keycaps compatible with Cherry MX ones? If so, do they just sell just the keycaps?

GrandManDanHey, check out their Facebook. Apparently they were at CES and just showed off a bunch of new products including a new MK Retro 2. Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/AzioCorp/posts/1295932897096025 https://www.facebook.com/pg/AzioCorp/videos/?ref=page_internal

Akatsuki4Oh mannn, backlighting! Exactly what this board was missing. Guess I'll be holding out until that's released.
Thanks for pointing that out!

GrandManDan know in motorcycles, theres all kinds of chrome. Chrome Plated plastic, plated metal, single plate, triple plated, ect. Some of it chips off after some use more than other, depending on materials and maybe method. Most chrome parts in new Harley Davidsons fo the past 10 year or so is chrome plated plastic parts, from china, i understand, like most headlamp, grips and trim. Most hondas chrome plated parts are all triple plated in japan by a subsidiary company, if I am not mistaken. A Honda subsidiary also make some of the hd brakes.. Which is probably a good thing for now. =)
Anyhow, here is a guy selling new rims for your keys if your interested, say the chipping starts to get worse. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Typewriter-Vintage-Antique-Style-Keys-Ring-and-lens-unassembled-DIY-100pc/261868642258?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D21fd270d84234b0d953a0c52f52a0749%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D261845219705 Or if you have one of those vintage type writers around, maybe take rims off that. Stylish looking kb thought. Enjoy!
