I bought a set of these in blue and white from Taobao for about $35 shipped (through their own consolidated shipping) and I wouldn't recommend these keycaps at all.
Their double shooting method requires them to have little pieces of plastic bridging separate pieces of a keycap. This results in some sections of the legend to not shine through properly. The following pictures are self explanatory.

It seems like in their pictures the keys Alt, Menu and Shift don't suffer from the same problem as my keycaps. Maybe their batch is an updated one, but the problem is still apparent on their numpad Enter key.
I'd argue that he reason Massdrop's pictures have the Caps Lock LED off is because this problem would be too apparent for their marketing purposes, as the problem is the most obvious on Caps Lock.
To add to this problem, the F keys' and modifier keys' legends are unnecessarily big. Who knows why they decided to center align the F keys' legends and left align the alphanumerics.

I'd also argue that they chose to put the keycaps on a keyboard that doesn't have the F row to hide the hideous F keys.
I don't appreciate hiding product defects from customers in this manner.
Edit: I wonder where the $49.99 "MSRP" came from. This set is obviously sold for a lot cheaper by a lot of Taobao vendors.
hhu94Thanks for this post.
My issue as always, is the damn uneven sides.
These look like the Tai-Hao caps but you know, not.
Has to be the same mold at the very least.
All of that aside, can you show me a picture of the base A-Z caps underside please.
I want to verify this is the same kind of cap shown on MD.
Thanks.
hhu94Actually we used the TK78 because it had white LEDs and cherry stabilizers which made keycap installation easier.
But sure we can go with not fitting our marketing narrative instead.
For everyone else, I'll have a few additional photos up Monday when I'm back in the office.
YanboWuLooking forward to more photos, YanboWu. A lot of prospective buyers have asked whether the gray caps are closer to beige. Perhaps you can either answer that question or post photos with more accurate colors, if there's any question about the ones on the product page currently.
Perhaps we could see the blue caps on an actual keyboard as well -- either in a photo from the manufacturer or if someone has already fitted them (i.e, without your having to attach the entire set from scratch!). If they really are the same keycaps from this drop, then hhu94's photos of them make the blue look a lot darker, which I personally would prefer to the wading-pool shade on the product page.
YanboWuSorry to ask this.
But I'm confused.
In the description page, the alphas look uneven in thickness. (Tai-Hao)
Yet in your newly posted pictures, they look even, are they?
I knew they weren't 1.5mm
Not a bad thing necessarily.
Also just wondering what that injection plastic (letters-numbers) is because I am getting a certain vibe from it aka https://www.massdrop.com/buy/royal-kludge-doubleshot-abs-keycaps them.
I want these and yet but I don't.
YanboWuYanboWu: Are the blue keys as light as the ones pictured on the product page, or are they darker, as shown in pictures taken by hhu94 (who complained about inconsistent key character lighting)? Hhu94 is the person who referenced a taibo drop that appeared to sell the same keyset.
Good news about the gray being an actual shade of gray!
Yup, I have that info in my reddit post, link and info on previous page. The Amazon sets (both blue and red that they sell), were posted the same time that the AliExpress sets I bought were, so I think they're just 104 sets, no extra smiley face keycaps.
hhu94I wonder if you could use some angled flush cutters to snip away those plastic bridges and even out the shine through. After the second shot of plastic is injected I would think that the entire legend is fused in place and the bridge is no longer necessary.
I'm debating buying this set with the hope that they don't have the same issue (though you can see the bridges on the gray modifiers) or that I can fix them myself. Any thoughts (hhu94 or others with this set)?
mechanatorI tried scraping them off with a flat head screwdriver to no success. The plastic bridge goes too deep. I scraped so much that that area of the keycap became thinner than the rest of it, and it was still opaque.
