I own a couple of Ball watches and have been pleased with all of them. I'd jump on this if it was smaller (I have bitch wrists), as I really like the black/red/grey color scheme. The 21mm straps.....damnit Ball, get it together.

I think I'm going to start dropping a comment in support of Ball any time I see one of their watches come up. I own a Ball Red Label Chronometer and a Ball Fireman Enterprise, and they are by far my favorite watches. Ball uses Top grade ETA movements that, at least to my experience, all operate within the RR standard of 30 seconds or less deviation per week. My Enterprise is a non-certified chronometer but keeps time just as accurately as the COSC certified Red Label. A Top grade ETA movement is basically a chronometer grade movement that was just never certified by the COSC. This particular watch uses the Ball RR1201 movement. The Gentleman's Gazzett describes ETA 2892-A2, which is what the RR1201 is derived from: "ETA 2892.A2 that in many watchmakers opinions is of better quality than the base movements produced by Rolex. This particular movement is only found in the most expensive timepieces that utilize ETA components for their watches and often, they are used for a more complicated movement that requires a certified Chronometer such as Breiling and some IWC chronographs. The design of the 2892.A2 is exceptionally slim and offers an excellent base for any chronograph. In fact, even the Omega coaxial movement used in the Seamaster is based on this movement that was actually used by Omega and rebranded as the Omega 1120 for the Seamaster Professional 300. When Omega began to produce their own coaxial movement known as the Omega 2500, it was largely based on the original movement created for Omega by ETA." Be careful, because once you experience Ball, you might become an addict. The quality of their watches is exceptional. The quality of finish is absolutely top notch. For you old farts that get up 20 times a night, you'll love the tritium tubes. They aren't as strong as superluminova for the first few hours, but after that, the tritium overtakes the superluminova in terms of brightness. The dial is clearly visible no matter how late or early in the morning it is. Personally, my daily driver will always have tritium tubes. For those of you who go in on this watch, you will not regret it.

I can see where you’re coming from. I think it’s the dial color choice - I was really interested in that one as well but I just thought it reminded me of a ‘fashion’ watch color scheme. If I may ask, how was the watch’s performance been? Running fast, slow etc?

Yeah that's a different bracelet from the one on my watches. It looks like it is specific to the Trainmaster and Conductor dress watch lines, so it's probably designed to be thinner and lighter for dress watches. The ones that come with the Engineer and Fireman lines are like tanks. That still looks like a nice bracelet though. I'm surprised you don't like it. Screw held links, proprietary clasp, polished stainless... looks good at least. Are you used to heavier metals like gold? I believe that particular watch is the cheapest out of the entire Ball inventory, so it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't feel as weighty as the rest. How is the time keeping on it?

Love the details on this watch, and the texturing of that dial, looks amazing on pictures! Unfortunately and as too usual, too large for my 6.75 chicken wrist. Hope people with a larger one will enjoy it, it looks really interesting!
