gotmoretoysIt is most probably 49 jewels. You can hardly make a quality chronograph movement out of 25 jewels, which is the usual amount for a 2824/2836 type...
Does anyone know the difference between the S1J and S3J versions other than the date window?

Whoever keeps trying to dump these balls on us at inflated prices seems to just not get it.
This is a nice watch, and a great value. At $1200. At $1500, you might realistically have a chance at getting a Ball AD to give it to you full box and papers for $200 more, and these routinely make the rounds on grey market for $1300.
I love my Ball (first serious watch I owned, bought right from this site!) and I'm never one to oppose date windows, but what a strange placement! Why not at 6:00? Why not just remove the numeral it's covering? And why not, for the millionth time, color match the date window to the dial? Cutting off the 12 and crowding the logo is such an awkward execution on an otherwise lovely piece.
I’m down with “tradition” but the numeric font on this dial is just too “1910” to make this model competitive in today’s $1,500 watch market. Also, if you’ve already saved fifteen-hundred, may as well keep saving until you’ve got enough for a Speedmaster!
Grabbed the Grey version on Shopworn for $1295 and I'll get it in 2 days. Love massdrop but it took about 5 minutes to find a much better price. Thanks for the tip Realmccoy.
