What's the point of this? Just get a nice real camera instead. There's no convenience nor quality to this, that I can see.

nantipaneith@nantipaneith,
I defiantly can attest to the quality of this product because I actually had a chance to see it at CES. @Sean_at_Beastgrip.com was extremely helpful when it came to a deeper understanding of how and why this product is the pinnacle of phonography.

JaysunI don't doubt the cool factor, nor the build quality of this product, but what's the benefit of using this contraption being fitted to an iPhone with a tiny sensor and a lack of manual controls over a nice durable DSLR/ Mirrorless or Compact camera? Is it a race to market for a new breed of iPhone-only niche photographers?
One can get a street-priced Nikon D3300 or Canon SL1 for a slightly higher price of this entire bundle, including lenses etc.

nantipaneithGreat question! While a phone camera [and our product] will not compare to a professional camera with specs and overall picture quality, our product excels in a few things that a DSLR/Mirrorless camera can't, such as live streaming, social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram, the ability to edit/export/share directly on the phone without needing to upload an SD card to the computer - and it's really convenient, since it works with all phones and sets up in seconds.

Sean.at.Beastgrip.comI see your point, and thanks for replying. Mobile live streaming is indeed a big boon offered by this product. I wish you and your company great success for years to come.

My pleasure, I'm really glad you asked that - I thought the same thing at first. :) "Phoneography" is still extremely new, and it's hard to imagine that you can take high/professional quality images on your phone. If you or anyone else is interested, we have a lot of examples in our blog (http://bit.ly/1WIOwwp) of how expert filmmakers have used our products for professional productions, like an official Bentley commercial, several feature-length films, and music videos.

Sean.at.Beastgrip.comThanks for the link. I don't doubt that great quality images can be created using a phone; it is, after all, how I first got into the hobby of photography. Making striking images using smartphones is what prompted me to graduate to a DSLR in order to place greater parameter control in my hands.

I completely agree - I had a similar progression too. :) If you still use your phone for anything, there are a few cool apps that give you manual controls like ISO, Exposure, Shutter Speed, etc. like FiLMiC Pro, Filmakr or CineCam Pro. Highly recommended for people like yourself, where you want more control in your hands.

nantipaneithDamn near everyone in the western world has a smartphone, many with stellar capabilities for casual/amateur photography. This is for people like them.
It's not that deep, is it?

PEDATThis thing doesn't work with casual/amateur photography as well as a DSLR would, for many reasons. DSLR usage is way more all-around convenient than setting your phone in and out of this thing for intermittent picture taking; and you wouldn't keep this thing around your phone all day, since you'd probably want to use it for other things. A DSLR is more of a casual/amateur "throw it around your neck and forget it until the picture moment presents itself" sort of affair.
For people not interested in DSLRs, they'd just use their phone and forgo any contraptions like this one. For the rest with disposable income, this would likely be a nice novelty for a short amount of time.
Like the representative from the company that makes this gizmo mentioned in his responses above, this is more a blogger/ live streaming setup sort of affair.
I hope this helps.
