I was about to get excited then I saw that it was a TN panel and not an IPS... :(

HankTheCreepIf you want a prettier picture, IPS is definitely the way to go as it has better color and picture uniformity. However, IPS has way slower response time. If or when we see an IPS technology that can have lower MS, we will for sure make it I am sure. Having an IPS panel for gaming is like having a Ferrari with a Honda stock engine in it. Yeah it looks awesome but performance isn't there. :(

ShaneJSo I just picked up this Acer XF270HU. Absolutely stellar IPS, 1440p, 4ms response, 144hz, and the picture is beautiful. Went and compared it to my friend's 120hz 1ms TN 1080p (Asus, don't know the model number it's a ROG) as far as response goes I can't tell as difference. Picture is definitely better on the Acer as far as colors go. I get what your saying but having played with both, I much prefer the IPS.

HankTheCreepI'm glad you got a solid IPS gaming monitor. That 4ms can make a difference though. There is a reason "competitive professional gamers" choose BenQ. When playing in a hardcore act quickly environment, pressing a button and a slight delay before the action happens can cost you. For casual gamers like myself, I won't see a difference and therefore going the route you did may be what I do when looking for a gaming monitor. To each his own. :) Happy gaming.

ShaneJUnderstood, yeah I don't game professionally. I'd much rather take the visual fidelity of the game. But you're right.

HankTheCreepI have heard from many of my clients that the XL2730Z looks amazing. They had no clue it was a TN panel. The TN panel has such a taboo on it that nobody wants to give it a chance when it comes to picture quality. The truth is, TN panel technology is still improving. Whether or not it ends up being an IPS world in the future, at least they haven't stopped trying to improve the TN panel.

ShaneJWhile I'm hoping for OLED, I must agree. While my RL2755HM doesn't look amazing, it is certainly somewhat close to my XB270HU.
a good TN is better than a decent IPS A decent OLED or CRT is better than either, but Pascal removes analog video output :( ...waiting for OLED monitors to cost less than $5000
