My son-in-law is a wonderful cook. I am waiting to hear if he wants one. I can get starry-eyed over this, even if it's not a knife.

Damn, wish I hadn't just ordered the ceramic one that was here a couple weeks ago.... Love me some olive wood!
Have worked with it a few times myself (turning bottle stoppers and shaving brushes) and currently waiting on a custom pool cue to be finished in olive and purpleheart and copper
Obviously grain will vary from piece to piece, but the one in product picture is some incredible figuring 😍

rayce444As long as you treat it properly there should be no problem using it for what it's made for! It's a very dense wood.
Hand wash only, obviously, with mild soap, warm (not scalding hot) water, and a soft sponge. Oil occasionally (food grade mineral oil), when it starts to feel dry (or after any hard scrubbing) And I'd probably be tempted to treat the outside surface with a blend of mineral oil and beeswax to protect it a little better (but not the inside) Basically treat it like a wooden cutting board
I mean, it's your money... But for my money I prefer my beautiful things to be functional as well 😉👍
