Geeez..., the Goblin was bad enough..., now this IMP thing. It’s almost a waste of good S35VN steel. Moreover, even the lowest price point seems ridicuously high. All this coming from a somewhat start-up/unknown knife company. Given the quality control issues on some of their knives I currently have, they REALLY need to concentrate on QC, and have consistent positive results, before they set out to display remnants of wet dreams. At this time, Bestech, as a company, is too new to put out weird stuff. Suggest they concentrate on the basics, before getting edgy... (and, no, I don’t have to apologize for this note).

ryfish5My note was not meant to discourage anyone from purchasing this knife, or any other knife Bestech makes. It really is a message to Bestech, and perhaps Massdrop. Bestech, at the very least, needs to know that they are manufacturing items that are, at best, mediocre. Fore instance, lock bars are not engaging properly. And when they do, they are not disengaging. The lock bar is NOT rocket science when it comes to folders. It’s folder knife making 101!! Spinning pivot fasteners are yet another issue. Issues like these need to be corrected BEFORE they can command a presence next to the likes of We, Kizer, ZT, and Spyderco, to name just a few.

AJAugustThis concerns me a bit, as I just ordered the Goblin based on decent reviews I had seen it their stuff. They appear to have 2 tiers of knives; D2 blades with G10 handles or S35VN blades with titanium. If you don't mind me asking, which type do you have personal experience with?

KavikThe knives I am referring to, and own, have D2 blades with G10 scales. A friend of mine has an S35VN titanium knife I helped with the adjustments it needed. I sent back two of my knives back to Amazon, but I was able to repair/adjust a third one I kept. I should note that once the knife is adjusted/repaired as needed, they are awesome! I just became frustrated with addressing NEW KNIVES!! It got to a point where I became annoyed with Bestech, not having any USA representation other then knife dealers. Otherwise, you’re having to contact and converse with someone in China, often times very cumbersome.

AJAugustThanks for the response! Yeah, at this price point I'd like to think that the knife would be good out of the box, but if it's just a matter of making minor tweaks I guess I can live with that. Hopefully they pay a little more attention to detail on the higher tier knives. Fingers crossed that we get the ones that were QC checked i guess! Lol

AJAugustI don't have any Bestech yet so can't comment based on experience but so far I haven't been able to find (up to now) a single bad review about them (budget or premium line). A bit odd and maybe unlucky that you had 3/3 bad ones... sorry to hear that.

bdpfI think I could have probably corrected one of the two I returned. But, after getting the other one, and realizing the liner lock was so off, I just got fed up with it. By contrast, I have a cheap CRKT Cryo (like $22.00 two years ago), that has never flawed... If that Cryo had a better steel, that knife would be near perfect. The devil really is in the details LOL.

AJAugustIs there anyone from Bestech here or anywhere that has responded to these issues?

nantipaneithNo... there has been no one to address issues with Bestech knives. Since Bestech knives are made in China, to date, the only representatives in the US are retail outlets, e.g., Blade Head Quarters, Amazon, Ebay, and, of course, Massdrop, along with a host of independent dealers. They only sell the knives. Most of these outlets offer the feature for a refund or exchange to occur within a specific time frame for a ‘defective product’. So if you wanted to get Bestech to ‘service’ your knife to address a defect or repair, under a warranty claim, it’s off to China you go... Keep in mind, the same holds true for Kizer, We, etc. Unless I am mistaken, outside of retail outlets, these guys do not have a US presence to address warranty claims...

AJAugustYou are probably right, I dont think they have any US based warranty locations. Do want to note though that Kizer has been very good at customer service for me to date. I've reached out to them and have received fairly prompt responses from representatives of their company (in China). They sent me some replacement screws and a pocket clip at no cost for the items or shipping.

AJAugustI'm poking thru the comments after this thing came up again. I own several Bestechs, D2/G10. I have been very impressed with all of them. I also have the Hornet which I believe belongs to them. I have grown to like that, too. Based on my experience, the quality of their knives is quite good.
