Like the lines/ design of the blade . But why is it this thick? It's not intended as a crowbar, it it?
Would love more well designed knives with blades no more then 0.01" thick!

SayrumIt's not a small knife. I'd put it on the large end of comfortable pocket EDC. But it's built solidly, fills the hand nicely, and locks up very tightly. For slim, light knives, I suggest either of the Boker Plus Brad Zinkers. The problem with those blades is that they are so small and light that you might forget to take them off and stow them in checked baggage before you hit the TSA security line (TSA gets another good free knife - haven't done that yet) or you forget to take it out of your pants pocket before throwing your pants in the washer / dryer (done that!). No knife that I'm aware of is designed to be used as a crowbar, screwdriver, or chisel. That's why there are Leatherman, SOG, and Gerber multi-tools.

48thRoninMorakniv has a Chisel tip blade, I use it constantly as all three of the listed things you mention, though I’m sure someone in Mora, Sweden rolls over in their frozen graves every time I do.

HaikudetatAnd I'm certain that in Switzerland, someone uses a knife as a fondue fork! ;-) I prefer to use my knives for cutting - just a personal preference, LOL!

Sayrum.13" is just over an eighth of an inch so it's not very thick, especially for a 3.75" blade. 0.01" is one hundredth of an inch. For reference, a paperclip is 0.04" (1mm) thick. "Crowbar" type blades like the Becker BK 2 are 0.25". If you meant 0.1", 48thRonin is right on with the Boker Urban Trapper recommendation. I have two and love to carry them, but they are about as light weight as I'd want to go. Great knives but clearly not what Bestech is going for here.

SayrumI personally prefer a thicker blade around 4mm/0.156inch range. Im sure the "crowbar" comment is meant to be hyperbole, otherwise you probably haven't handled a good blade.

jhoppsUps . My fault. I am used to metric messurements. Sorry I meant 0.1" blade thickness. And like i said before: if not intended as a crow bar, why would one need such thicknessses?

SayrumDepends on the material you are cutting and / or thrusting the point into. Don't forget where the point, curved blade belly originated from and the only purpose the original full sized design was used for. Understanding the history of a blade shape and the historical use of the blade helps you select a modern day blade that is more likely perform well under similar cutting tasks.

Sayrummodern folders are being made thicker..because most laymen use them for everything BUT slicing. ..but tanto blades are made for thrusting hence the thickness. thats OLD school Japanese stuff. nothing new.

warchyld67Bingo! I prefer proven blade designs dating back to when edged weapons were the primary weapons. People figured out pretty quickly what worked and what didn't. And only in the last 20 years or so have the steel manufacturers been able to mass produce steel that combines the edge retention ability combined with lightness and flexibility of Japanese katanas dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries....

48thRonin20 years ago id say stay away from Chinese anything. but they have really made leaps in quality when it comes to blade steel. they are employing the old hand made sword steel production in knives now. same with soviet block countries. they figured out cheaper aint better and people wont buy crap anymore.

warchyld67Agreed. There still seems to be a price point where the Chinese manufacturers are still using crap steel. Today I'm returning two Kershaws to Amazon that have Chinese 8Cr13MoV stainless blades. It's touted as being the Chinese equivalent of AUS-8, but neither blade will take a good final edge. My old Cold Steel Ti-Lights have AUS-8 and they will take an acceptable edge. So far (knock on wood) the D2 in the Bestech has cut everything I've thrown at it and retained a good edge.

48thRoninkershaw disappointed me when they started mass producing/ packaging for retail sales in the plastic stuff and farmed them out to the lowest over seas bidder.10+ years ago... wont buy em now. unless its their high end stuff. i mean when their Emerson line is described as " budget friendly steel" ......nuff said.

48thRoninDude the blade just snapped when i opened it today..right on the pivot. You can see how thin it was and obviously a defect in the steel....sad. And i just joined the scimitar drop.
