warchyld67I'll think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the build quality. As I mentioned in a previous thread, my EDC for over 15 years has been an original Benchmade Allen Elishewitz Ares Axis Lock, although I've bought a large shoe box full of folders since then. I've retired the Elishewitz and this knife is now my EDC. Had it for about a month now - primary reason is that I can deploy the blade WAY quicker than the Benchmade. D2 steel seems to keep an edge well. I'd be interested in hearing your opinion when you take delivery on the Bestech.

48thRoninif it is really D2 tool steel it will hold an edge for a long time...harder to sharpen but stays sharp.

warchyld67Yeah, other than the Cold Steels from Taiwan, I've avoided Chinese knives - this was a gamble and I was very pleasantly surprised.... I just saw where Kershaw came out with a Skyline XL (larger) using the Chinese 8Cr13MoV instead of the original Skyline Sandvik 14C28N. I bought two Kershaws and own two CRKT fixed blades of this steel - it's crap, can't get it to set up a good edge. Hope Bestech keeps making affordable knives with good blade steel!

48thRoninkershaw just about lost me , they have gone cheap. and it shows. hoped CRKT didnt go down that road. but looks like they have . both companies are going the BOKER 2 types of knives route, one cheap and mass produced and the other higher end...that to me is just a sellout and greedy. targeting two completely different markets. sacrificing quality for quantity. one can do both. ...meh..the market will send them the message sooner or later.
