I've held off from buying Bestechs for two reasons. One is that I remember reading a review suggesting that some of them weren't so good of a value. The second is that I once had to work with a company called Bestech and it was so damned annoying that every time i see the name i'm reminded of the experience. Just being honest here. Because neither of these things is at all scientific and one of them's kinda silly, I've decided to pick up a couple of the Bestechs offered on Drop, including this one, to see what they're all about.
Love me some sandvik steel....count me in!

I bought this exact knife a couple weeks ago on sale at a online store for $27.00. It’s action is insanely smooth!

I finally got around to joining this on the last drop....gonna wait for the actual review till i have time to tear it down and all that, but first impression: Damn 😲 I thought I was buying this just to compete my set, but this thing really doesn't seem so bad at all! For their "cheapest" knife (FRN/12C27), this thing has ridiculously smooth (almost drop shut) action, solid build, and another damn near perfect ootb edge. Almost perfect (can't shake open, but energetic flip) detent even I say almost... i CAN whip it open, but it takes a full arm swing, and it looks like there's room to tweak, to get the detent ball more fully seated

I'm waiting for the Paladin to come out. Check out the preview from Stassa23 on Youtube. It's got the aggressive lines of this one and the Scimitar and the good news is it's G10 and D2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eITWLzVQego

Now this is interesting.........a two tier buy in discount? first I've seen that. And a starting point that's basically retail, and a much higher number of purchases needed to reach the same discounts we've been traditionally getting on these knives.
I like it in theory, discounting more if a larger number are purchased.....but I think they went the wrong way on this. Why not keep the same standards we had before and increase the discount for huge drops? Not force it to have to be a huge drop before giving the standard discount.

AxeguyFrom the email : "Better luck next time! Unfortunately, the drop for the Bestech BG09 "Spike" G-10 Series didn't get enough participation this time, so the items won’t be shipped out and you won't be charged."
Better luck? Ugh. We had enough participation for the usual bestech drop requirements. Don't put that on us 🙄

I never knew G-10 was FRN (I'm kidding).

Looks like a great knife, a solid larger counterpart to the Thorn, which is a fantastic Bestech.
But nylon fiberglass is FRN, not G10. It doesn't look like G10 either.

6/10 better than average
I like this knife. I really do, but I don't love it. The build quality is good, deployment is nice and smooth, and the blade shape is quite nice. I also quite like the stonewash and the liner lock is among the most comfortable I have encountered.
But there are two issues that stop me from loving it. 1. It is too thick. There is no reason for it to be as thick as it is. It feels bulky, and as a result I don't ever carry it. The Kizer Vanguard is an excellent example of a bigish knife that doesn't feel massive in the pocket, and if this had a similar width I would like it a lot more.
2. The scales kind of suck. Delica plastic feels utilitarian, this plastic just feels....not cheap necessarily, but unsatisfying.
If only this knife had thinner scales, and in a different material I could wholeheartedly recommend it, but as it stands, it could use improvement.

just opened my spike and while i love every aspect of the knife i had the same problem with the ediges of my scales just wanted to ask if i wanted to put a small bevel on it or just to soften the edges how would i go with that because i have never handeled a nylon reinforced fiberglass composit before so wanted to ask you before just grabing a file that might just recking it.
