How come the delay? Do we have a firm shipment or delivery date ?
Looks nice ! Anyone get one?
this are not exclusive. Here has one german guy review this exactly model. If you want to check it out better... as this pictures are really far away to descent. https://youtu.be/yGsexLSJaME
Seems odd that they put the screw head on the show side.🤔
look nice
Come on massdrop, I am DIEING for some of these. Can't you use some of your pull to make it so us lefty's arnt left out of every other good drop?
Bestech knives used to be the budget friendly knife. I guess that time has passed.
Gunnersmate2
Lol, no, they make outstanding budget knives but their titanium and S35VN knives are righteous too.
Gunnersmate2
Yeah, they've been doing more expensive titanium ones for a long as I've known about them. If you go to their website you can see them separated into the "Titanium Series" and the "G10 series" (even though at least one is FRN, not G10) http://bestechknives.com/index.php/category/15
They're still actively adding to the G10 line, they haven't moved away from that
I'd like to learn how they do this pattern anodizing..... But, I dunno, I just can't get behind this model for some reason. The handle looks too fat for the blade I think
Kavik
I believe they use a paintbrush with an electrode in it I saw keybar doing something similar
Marblecf1
I've learned a thing or two since then ;) My guess is a sponge on this one actually. I still need to make an electrified paintbrush. Accidentally melted the bristles with the soldering iron on my first attempt 😂
As someone from FL I have to wonder if the folks who designed this have ever seen a dolphin in person, because no matter how I look at this, it doesn't resemble the form or shape of a dolphin at all. At least that other Massdrop collab drop going on right now does look like the outline of a thresher shark. This, however, it just looks like a knife.

Kidding around - they use dolphins to dock ships too.
At $200 this is in ZT/Spyderco territory and brandname/reputation matters a lot in this price range.

I actually have two of Bestech's lower priced D2/G10-based blades. They're a fantastic value at < $40 by any measure. However, there's price ranges where reputation becomes important. Not brand recognition, that's not what I meant. I mean quality/craftsmanship/warranty/service reputation. While $200 isn't really that much for a premium knife, it's actually actually a big purchase for the frugal enthusiasts amongst us and want a company who on top of being known for consistently great QA/QC also have great post-sale service.

Bestech is quite well known among knife collectors, and honestly, i would take a Bestech, We, Kizer, Rike, or Reate (All Chinese brands) over a ZT anyday. I tried a couple ZTs at a House of Knives once and the fit/finish on both was sad. I have knives from both We, and Kizer that cost ~$80, and were better in every way to the $200 ZT. As for Spidy, they are great knives, but still lacking in fit/finish and materials compared to the Chinese Midtechs like this Bestech. They are also infamously overpriced. Personally when i buy a knife, i usually go for quality and price, not brand. For that reason i prefer the above mentioned Chinese companies to ZT or Spidy. The only Spidy i currently own is the Raffir Noble Chaparral, because i just could not resist the aesthetic, combined with the XHP steel, which is one of my favorite steels. If only they used steels like XHP and S35VN more often, cut prices across the board by ~30%, and ditched MAP...

Did you guys change the blade geometry with this co-lab? Your prototype doesn't appear to have the same uniform curvature along the spine that the original Dolphin has. One of its best features!
Data
I think they changed it after the initial run of the original. I have a regular Dolphin that's not of the original first 100, and its shape is that of THIS knife as opposed to what's pictured in the regular one's drop. It's still nice, but I'm sure they had a reason for locking the blade back further.
