Mine showed up today. Shipped one day later than originally promised.
I ordered the red scales. Love the knife but wish the backspacer was not gold anodized. Anyone know if can be changed out?

MSchottTry to disassemble it and take the backspacer off. Personally, I like the gold spacer.

FlipperjayThe scales screw into the backspacer so this will not work. I am in communication with MD to see about getting a non anodized spacer. No answer yet.

MSchottI think he probably meant take it apart, then you can strip the anodizing, or anodize it a different color if you have the tools/skills. What would you prefer it looked like? Plain grey? Or a different color?
Also, don't know why you would think MassDrop could get you a non-anodized one? They're just a reseller...if anything you could try contacting the manufacturer (Bestech), but I'd be surprised if they'd even accommodate that request

KavikI have since learned through communication with MD that you are correct. There is no way to get the part which I understand. I want the backspace to match the rest of the hardware and to do so I need to, as you suggest, strip off the factory anodization.

MSchottTo try to match the polished stainless liners and hardware I would probably suggest doing that by sanding through it, but you're going to have to take it up to pretty high grits. Chemical etching would leave it a bit of a rough, dull grey.
It's not gonna be fun with all those contours

MSchottActually, there are standoffs in there as well, it doesn't literally screw into the titanium, so you could run it with no backspacer at all if you prefer
search

But IMO that would devalue the knife a bit

KavikThat’s what I was initially trying to convey to him. How much weight was taken off.

FlipperjayPractically nothing lol Had to take it apart again to find out, but here you go: 7.73 grams or 0.273 oz
Not enough to change the balance or anything
P.S. In my attempt to do this without dismantling the pivot end again, i dropped the damn standoff between the couch cushions. I better get at least one thumbs up out of this 🤣🤣🤣

KavikThank you. I ended up removing the backspacer and taking a heavy duty scouring pad to it. It took about 20 minutes but this removed the gold anodization. I rolled it into a cylinder to get it into the relieved areas. It worked very well and gave me the desired result.

KavikThe damn couch monster. Been gobbling up small knife parts, (backspacers, screws, and bearings) and the remote control since before I was born. Lol

Gunnersmate2Those SOBs better not be on the endangered list. They propagate so fast that there is at least one in EVERY couch. I wonder if the furniture manufacturers have considered gassing their factories. Or even calling Orkin? Could they be in cahoots with the Sock Gremlin Syndicate. Inquiring Minds want to know!
