I just got these cans 250 ohm version has some serious treble Hardly any bass if at all. methinks I shoulda gotten 80 Ohms. I have DT880 s and those seem to be warmer cans and has refined bass. Maybe it’s a burn in issue. gotta flex them drivers. I’m running schiit Vali 2 6sn7 tube modi 2 Uber. anyone else surprised by this? Thought it would warmer than the 880s.

BuckNekkidI got the 250 version as well and noticed the bass wasn't in your face, but honestly I wasn't expecting it to be. I was under the impression the 250s were the most neutral of them all. Although I've read several places now that they took a while to burn in. Personally, I just planned on keeping them running for a few days straight and then checking back in. I've also noticed some harshness in the high end, which I'm also attributing to a lack of burn in.

BuckNekkidi didn't believe in the "burn in" process but i really do now. the 250 Ohms warmed up a bit. i don't really know how many hours but the bass is tight and the treble is not as harshing and fatiguing. Really excellent pair of headphones. the only thing is that i thing the clamp force is a bit too light. anyway no complaints.

BuckNekkidI run them (DT770/250) from a Schiit stack (Magni2/Modi2). Still a lot of treble, but not too much. And plenty of bass. Maybe they work better with a solid state amp?
BuckNekkidMy suspicion is that your headphone amp (or phone, or whatever) isn't happy with the load it is seeing. The 80 and 32 ohm versions are relatively newer elaborations on the DT770, tweaking the original coil winding so that they can work better with devices that can't swing a large output current. The OG 770-250 is a very mature design dating back 30 years. I'd put my money on the 250 ohm version if I wanted the most accurate version that departed the least from the original engineers intention. Also, these cans were originally intended for the pro market. Not consumers. So they don't have Dre Beats hyped sound, or the crystalline hyped upper mids of a Sony MDR-V7506.

Calaverasgrandeim not looking for crazy dre beats bass. I amp using mostly the vali 2 but sometimes on the fiio e07k on a dap. The fiio e07k sounds ”veil-ish” — but i just expected it to sound warmer than the dt880 pro. I do enjoy listening to it. Bass is tight and there when called for.
BuckNekkidI'm in for the 250 ohm version. I'll be using it with pro audio gear, so I am hoping the impedance won't be a problem. I am contemplating getting the Benchmark DA/headphone amp though.

BuckNekkidThe 80 Ohms are the same has good upper and mids hardly any lows, pretty disappointing lots of other better choices. I'm pretty happy with the Hifiman 4xx's and AKG 7xx.

NaranKPateli'm not disappointed in the 250 Ohms but i was just expecting it to be warmer - the bass is tight and is there when necessary. i guess the 80 Ohms are more alike to the 250 Ohms than not - what are you using to drive the 80s? i think the treble has "relaxed" a bit since i first listened.

BuckNekkidUsing Furman P1800AR and PL-PLUS DMC inseries for pure filtered power feeding Schiit Yggy DAC linked to Schiit MJ2 Headamp/Pre (potential end game stuff). I sent Pre to 2 x Q8 Equator studio monitors and Balanced out to DT770 Pre, the highs and mids are ok for the price, but was disappointed with the low, nothing much there - after that I wasn't much bothered to listen to them. I may try them out on my solo Filo F5 dac and see if I can play with EQ or something see if I can make them sound better just didn't have the time.

NaranKPatelStrange. My coworker just bought the DT770 80ohm last week (he was annoyed when he saw the drop). I got a good amount of time with them, back to back with my ATH-M50 and my AKG K7xx. and to me, they sound very little like the K7XX. Much closer to the M50. Very similar signature, in fact. Compared to the M50, the DT770 bass extension was a touch leaner from 100-200hz, but significantly deeper on the whole. Both sets energized my skull in an exciting way, but I think the 770 is just lower distortion. Not as much 2nd order adding "warmth" on the bass end. And both headphones have a treble spike. The Beyer just had it in a slightly different place. It emphasizes cymbals & high hat with a little more air and a little less bite.
