說實在的上面 這版本 有些失敗 不太好看
Me want, black looks much better than silver.
They should do it for the 32 ohm ones
Any updates on if this drop is going drop again?
lobos
Yes, please drop again please . I like the black color and will probably like the DT880 based on online frequency response.
I have bought a pair of these DT880s. Having said that, I have never seen such bitching and complaining in all my life. If $20 is going to break your piggy bank, then don't buy them. There are plenty of headphone choices you can make. Try one of them and then complain!!
I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy this exact pair, but I'm so insanely confused about the dac amp situation....
I obviously need a (desktop) dac, but I don't want to buy a cheap one that will make these sound cruddy. When I specifically search for dacs for "600 Ohm headphones", it's like most of them don't even put the impedance output as a key piece of information.
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-111567-Desktop-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00KVVX2QW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490149665&sr=8-1&keywords=desktop+dac+amp
This is a super affordable one on Amazon that claims it will support the 600 Ohm ones, but I'm reading online that cheap ones aren't good???? That doesn't make sense to me. Something either can or cannot do something....
It's important to note that I'm intending on producing/mixing/mastering hip hop on these. I've also read that this particular Monoprice dac is "not good for mixing vocals"? How in the world would an amp dictate what the headphones are good for???
suhdude69
A DAC is a Digital Audio Convertor. All it does is convert the digital to an analog signal. It shouldn't Amp it as that is what an Amp is for. There are Dac/Amp Combo's out there.
Your basic setup would be: Computer -> DAC -> AMP -> Headphones
Poor quality DACs will produce poor sound quality. Every electronic device that you can listen to already has a built-in DAC, the purpose of purchasing a separate one is to get a high quality one as things like laptops and phones tend to have poor quality DACS.
Poor quality Amps will add tones to the music that isn't present in the original. Especially if you plan to mix/master on your setup you do not want to use something like a Tube Amp that will make your music sound artificially warm and then notice that your music sounds different when you listen to it everywhere else. An Ideal Amp does nothing to the sound except make it louder for your headphones.
In audio there are some things that are cheap but still sound amazing. It's a mixed bag.
For cheap but good quality DACS/Amps I recommend Schiit Audio. You can get a Schiit Fulla 2 for $100 or a Schiit Modi 2 and Schiit Magni 2 combo for $200. Be aware the Schiit stuff may not include all required cables but it is 100% made in america.
Between this and AKG k7XX?
Pierre111
I have both and they are both awesome. I personally like these slightly more for for both looks and comfort reasons (the akg headband is this springy floaty strap of leather headband instead of this more traditional style)
The high impedance Beyers should sound "better" with heavy amping, but on my weakest amp (Fiio E10K), I think the AKG's perform better with their lower impedance and more forgiving sound.
The Beyers feel like they could withstand a lot more abuse, not that the AKG is delicate or shoddy.
gatticus
Thanks, I also think the construction seems sturdier on the BD. I'm glas they also perform well soundwise.
Is the headband genuine leather?
Woot-Zee
yes
What Beyerdynamic model have the best low end in your opinion please message me.

Thanks for the additional information, not a nitpick at all. Actually, your comments further cement the fact that what's being offered here on Massdrop isn't quite the same as less expensive versions of the DT880 being sold elsewhere. Cheers!
I just wish your comment gets pinned at the top. Getting sick and tired of morons here not doing their actual research on why these are much more expensive than the retail counterparts.
But I also put a blame on MD for misleading users with a title that doesn't reflect on what is actually been sold. If they indicated that these are the "Manufaktur" models it could clear up the confusion around here.
And this goes the same to the DT990 drop. They're also selling the Manufaktur Editions too.
If only it were a DT880 detachable cable
TheOmegaCarrot
mod it
the price is even higher than amazon's
What is the difference between general 600 OHM edition of Beyerdynamic DT880 and this black 600 OHM edition?
lucky.life
They are black. Great headphones btw. i've owned pair of dt990 pro 250ohm for a year now, and they haven't failed me once. I don't know how much does the semi-open design change the sound signature, and i'm actually really curious right now since dt990's cost around 110 pounds... and on paper they have exactly the same specs.
Jerzy
DT880 bring down the highs and being semi close extend the bass a little. The 880s are consider the most neutral sounding of out of the 770s, 880s and 990s and often picked as the ones to have if you have to chose. I was hoping to see these a little cheaper now Beyer is refreshing their entire line up.
I don't see this being all that great of a deal.
version for replacing balance cables
I can really feel the lack of general love on this drop. They look great, and I do want a pair of DT880 but my budget is limited, I will save my pennies I think!
Good news is just paid clearance tax fir my AKG 7XX to be delivered!
Does anyone have an insight to the next round of special cans?
MusicFuelsYourSoul
They're not bad, but they're boring.
The price, design and pedigree of these headphones suggest upper lo-fi, but the reputation of the high impedance version (?) also could suggest entry level mid-fi.
That chrome model just looks gross
I had to look back and forth over why I liked the look of this DT880 over the amazon black version.
The amazon version looks like a knockoff T90, which isn't a bad headphone, but it looks close but a bit off to me. Like an uncanny valley with headphones.
The steel accents make this model stand out more in contrast to the many plastic all black headphones that exist. This is all styling preference, so if you don't like the look and/or aren't in the market for DT880's there may be better options for you.
The non-detachable cable stinks, but replacing the cable is a pretty easy affair on all the DTXX0 models. Not that I personally have ever had one of their cables fail.
gatticus
I agree about the non-detachable cable, but the DT 770 and 990 are very comfortable headphones. I'm just torn between this drop, the special black editions, and the pro design for the 880's.
Im waiting for the 32ohms version.
This is crazy expensive ... especially with a nondetachable cable.

In the hands of the inexperienced ... sure. My old Sennheiser's look better now than they did out of the box.
I guess my 770's are ruined too since I re-soldered a headphone jack?
This is nowhere close to a deal.

Doesnt have the black grills like the Black DT880 premium chrome(not an option you can select in manufaktur options).

They need a version like chrome with black leather headband and option to black the chrome part(there is a black brushed metal finish but not matte paint)......... I wonder what costs more as a replacment part grill cups or leather headband likely the leather headband so the path to true blackout would be to buy this drop then order black painted grill from Beyerdynamic parts(which dont have the nameplates). The Headband on the manufaktur also has some metal tabs that the others dont and blacker connectors with screws you can see from the back. Are those metal tabs some kind of sizing lock mechanism(maybe its just the older version, my T90s have the headband like below so I dont know what the metal tabs are) ?

600 ohm is great for tube but a little high for most digital headphone amps as they start losing their precision that high; 250 is better and more compatible with more solid state amps, but the 600s have better specs(sharper transients, better square waves cleaner sound) and speed when driven properly but signal driving it from an amp near max load may be more blurry. Really if you like DT880s and tubes, but like the new superfidelity solid states as well you might have to get both in the long run. I would like to read a shootout between both ohm models on a Chord Hugo cause that is what would decide it for me. In the past I always stuck to the logic the 600 was superior and never considered the others but the Hugo is not an endless amp(its not an amp its a pulse array) and I love its god dac, but likely it has enough power for even 880 600s. Yeah it does 600s are the way to go for me.
Note these have the leather headband only available on the Manufaktur editions (like this one)
With these options on BeyerDynamic's website (the only other place to get Manufakur editions), these come out to $434.

The custom editions are kinda overpriced, but these at 600ohm are going to be a nice upgrade from my old beat up 250ohm pro's.
Plus, these just look way cooler than the stock model. And that's really what you are buying here with this particular edition.
gatticus
I remembered that someday in the past those wrote leather headband, but now, I cannot find it. Is it really leather this time?
Woot-Zee
I received my DT880 ABE edition, and as far as I can tell, yes, it is the leather headband.
It has a different color (blacker) and texture ( more porous) compared to my other DT Pro series headbands that I know are leatherette. During regular use I'm not sure I would really be able to tell a difference. In theory the real leather should breathe better.
It also has the "soft touch" binding posts where the headband meets the forks and the swivel hinge where the forks meet the cups. The soft touch material isn't particularly thick, but it does give it a nicer matte look.
The soft touch materials are only available on the manufacture model. I did not take that into account when making my earlier price comparison to custom versions sold from the store.

A number of small, but nice goodies over the regular DT Premium model.
These look classy.
