Is this really so bad? Amazon has it for 227. Everyone seems to be comparing it to the price of the 300 ohm.
So for nearly forty dollars more you can get it this week, or you can wait and save some money.
And these are the premium so they should be more comfortable for larger heads.
Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand the uproar. I'm a beginner looking at some open back like this.
Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 600 ohm HiFi headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0024NK34O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_8zdNAbBZ32NZV

VVhiteCakeAlot of the people here are just trying to shit on Massdrop because they have twisted expectations. The point of a group buy is to get it cheaper than just buying it from Amazon or another retailer. Massdrop does a really good job of bringing a wide variety of items to people and a reasonable price, but with the caveat that you have to wait a little bit longer. I really don't mind waiting because it brings more things into the market place and takes a lot of the stress off of the manufacturers themselves so they can get caught up on their orders and look at making other things.

VVhiteCake$175 on amazon like 2 weeks ago, which is a price that they have there very often. Previous posts had these on amazon for cheaper during the time Massdrop had it. It just so happens this drop atm is more expensive on Amazon. Most people who want this probably have already got these on Amazon when it was cheaper, or a lot of the people here are actually hoping that Massdrop could have some deal that drops it lower than Amazon's $175. But I mean, sure if you are buying this on impulse at this moment right now, then the $189.99 isn't too bad if Amazon currently has it for $227. It all comes down to timing of the purchase, and how one defines what is a deal. Also the month wait here could mean that Amazon's price could drop down to 175 again any time in that month and you would have bought it at a higher price here with no return policy if you don't like them =)

TomomoRight, and that is what I was trying to get at in my previous post. I'm pretty sure Massdrop only works with the manufactures when they make these headphones and on Beyer's website in Germany, these would cost the $400 because they will be straight out of their factory and sent directly to your home. When you look at something on Amazon, they get a different price than that and so you have to incorporate that into it as well.

TomomoThanks for the tidbit about the 175, I might have to hold off for that. Amazon's return policy is killer, too

VVhiteCakeBeyer cans don't really get that cheap on massdrop for some reason. I got my 990 for $110 a couple months ago, I got the 880 for $130 about 8-9 months ago, and I've seen the 770 for the same price. Whereas here on MD I don't think I've seen a pair of beyer cans for under $160. It's just kind of weird that they get so much cheaper on other sites.
