Although MMX300 and DT770 use same drivers, the sound of MMX300 are totally diffrent from DT770. MMX300 are more amount of bass than 770 and 990 and probably give you better immersive experience in game (but I'm not sure the positioning part, I just tried it in headphone store with musics). For the mic quality, one of my friend told me that the mic on MMX2(a cheaper beyer gaming headset) are insane good, even better than his 100$ ATH desktop mic. It is fair to assume the mic on MMX300 are a good one and better than MMX2. In the end I want to say this headphone actually worth the money when it comes to gaming. At least you can't really get completely better or same setup by buying 770/880/990 with a modmic, so it a option. The only disadvantage of MMX300 is that their sound are tuned for gaming so it's not ideal for music compare to 770/880/990 in my opinion. Stick to 770/880/990 if you think music is improtant than gaming. By the way, English is not my first language, pardon me if my weird grammar make you feel bad.

XavierY000There are differences between DT770 versions with different impedance, also. To me the MMX300 / 32ohms sounds exactly like my DT770 / 32ohms (too much bass and a tad muddy), while the DT770 / 250ohms is definitely a step up. To my ears, eyes and soldering iron, MMX300 and DT770 are about the same, i.e. if the impedance matches, they'll sound the same.
Using the Beyerdynamic USB-soundcard, the audio quality of the MMX2 mic is nearly on par with the MMX300 mic. Considering its price and the included USB-soundcard, the MMX2 is a great (better?) bargain. Sadly, the MMX2 was discontinued a few weeks ago. The MMX300 is a better (more comfortable) headset than the MMX2, but too expensive.
