If everyone buys new from online businesses like massdrop, the local hobby stores will die. Undercutting brick & mortar retailer prices for volume selling is the Amazon way, which kills smaller, local businesses. Sure, we all pay more at local stores, but it's for a great cause, like keeping people you actually know, employed. Saving $10 or more for each online booster box, isn't that much individually. But multiply by 1200 boxes nationally, equals a total of $120,000 (at $100/box instead of $90/box) that are NOT helping local game stores. SUPPORT local shops. Buy from them, join their player communities. It's safer than risking your purchase online, keeps your money in your local town-economy, gives you a place to congregate and play Magic and to trade singles, supports small business and keeps games like Magic: the Gathering more accessible in the future for players who want to enjoy 'prereleases' and 'friday night magic' events at their local shops. THINK before you press that button. SUPPORT local game stores. Thanks for reading.

PendragonIf my local shops weren't charging $120+ per box I would. I do often buy board games and m:tg singles from local shops, despite sub-par prices, to keep them around.

PendragonAgreeing here. While if I pre-order boxes I get them at $85 from local game store. Buying an extra box right now, will cost $120. Not $85. I support my local game store via pre-releases, pre-ordering product, and FNM/events ... plus picking up singles & supplies when it makes sense.

PendragonOr the local businesses could recognize this market and have a more competitive price. This "support local" jive is so overplayed these days and it is being used to protect businesses that are stagnant, don't offer "singles" or any of the other stuff you mentioned, selling current release fat packs at double their msrp and doubling the cost of FTV the day they come out.
If I find a shop that is run with some dignity and actually supports it's gamers like they support them, I would absolutely support them, but there aren't that many out there.
