I'm in the market for an ultralight 2-3P tent that is long enough for me being 6'1". Is this thing really 7'6" long?? Also, is the listed weight of 2 lbs 13 oz the 'packaged weight' or the 'minimum trail weight?' I only ask because I see no mention of stakes. If the listing is the minimum weight, then this is easily a 3 lb tent with stakes, correct?

treal512I have the same issue with tents that are just too short when you take into consideration a sleeping pad and a lofted quilt. The inner tent in this drop seems to have the typical end walls, so most likely it has the same problem as other tents without vertical walls.

treal512Thanks for your post, please see > responses below: I'm in the market for an ultralight 2-3P tent that is long enough for me being 6'1". Is this thing really 7'6" long?? > Big Sky rates the Evolution 2P tent for people up to 6ft 6in (200cm)... how we figure that is the inner is 91in (230cm) long so deduct 6in (16cm) each end for sleeping bag loft to get usable length.
Also, is the listed weight of 2 lbs 13 oz the 'packaged weight' or the 'minimum trail weight?' > weight listed is fly, inner, and poles
I only ask because I see no mention of stakes. If the listing is the minimum weight, then this is easily a 3 lb tent with stakes, correct? > depends how many and what stakes/pegs are used...
Thanks for your interest, Big Sky International

jari.perhoNot sure if this will help. I have a long thermarest and it fits with room in the tent with room to spare (i'm onlt 5'11" but I'm broad).
The issue I've found on my last trip is that if I slide down the tent, my mat can push the inner to touch the outer and I get water coming in to the foot end of my tent (I have the seould 2 but the inner looks identical to me). I only noticed it on the last night of my last trip, where we had rain for a few days. I may be able to fix this issue by adjusting the pitch of the fly...

djprThanks for the info, djpr. I recently went to an outdoor event where Vaude had their new lineup of tents on show and they had some very interesting options. I ultimately found one that had vertical end walls and a nice amount of length and height.

jari.perhoBig Sky's Evolution 2P tent is rated for users up to 200cm (6ft 6in) tall.. this allows 15cm (6in) sleeping bag loft on head end and 15cm (6in) sleeping bag loft on foot end. This is a double tent so the sleeping bag can touch the ends of the inner without any problems.
