I purchased and just used this tent for five days in Chicago Basin, Colorado. It held up great in the winds and rain. Condensation was a major issue for me. It would drip down the inside and run under my Klymit air mattress (another massdrop purchase) even on the clear nights. If my hair brushed the top when getting in and out of tent, it would be wet. I was warned on condensation just did not expect it to be so extreme. The floor is also very slippery between the tent and air mattress. Any uneven ground and I was sliding into the side or bottom of tent which would exacerbate the condensation getting on my bag. I will continue to use tent but would not recommend it to my buddies. The hiking pole (fizik, another massdrop purchase) worked great as a tent pole.

Just a warning to buyers. Customer service has not changed at big sky. I recently bought a tent from them, the tent itself is fine. However getting in contact with the company is a chore. I tried before and after I purchased to ask some questions, emails come about once every week or two. Good luck and just a warning

Not sure what to think of the lack of ventilation issue Many sub-2 pound tents have lots of screening yet this tent is much less money. Is that the trade-off with this tent? Simplicity?
jottoh12
@jottoh12 - this tent is roughly half mesh, which is good enough for most backpackers and generally what people expect in the "tarp tent" design. The fact that Big Sky warns you about this is a good sign they want you to be happy by getting the shelter that is right for you.
What solo tent to you use?
Can you cinch up the fly by the footbox to increase circulation like shown on the KUIU version of this tent?
soooo condensation is the reason it's not recommended for high humidity? I'm backpacking in hawaii this july and looking for lightweight cheap options. Is there anything else I could look into? This seems perfect except for that...

Too true Danny, you can never have it all... I guess most of my usage is in North Carolina woods and mountains, but I just wanted something small and light for Hawaii in case I can't get my hammock up and it's raining.

You CAN have it all...you just have to spend accordingly. My Solo tent weighs the same as this Big Sky Wisp yet has lotsa room, plenty of ventilation and has performed well in Baja Summers, snowfields in the late Fall and wetlands in the Spring. Yet it cost quite a bit more than the Wisp. That is the beauty of these times...choices.
Looks very similar to the 3F UL GEAR 1p tent on aliexpress.
mountainvilla
3F UL Gear is a Chinese company that copy other people's tents.. they do not design any tents themselves... my Chinese friends tell me 3F UL Gear's product quality is pretty low, use low priced fabrics, materials, etc. Big Sky sells its Wisp tent to Hong Kong and China markets. Big Sky also exhibits at ISPO's Beijing, China show, and won a design award for the Wisp tent at the OutDoor show in Nanjing, China in 2014 so 3F UL Gear has had pretty of opportunities to copy Big Sky's Wisp "Super Bivy" tent design.
bigskyintl
Are you certain 3F copies other tents using cheaper materials? That has always been easy to state yet sometimes unfounded. Just wondering.
Im thinking about walking the Te Araroa with this one, is it a good idea?
I'm interested but the Granite grey colour on their website almost looks see through?
Bebon
We would not consider either the SuprSil™ or SuprSil™-UL fabrics to be "see through"... you may be able to see if someone is inside if the lighting is just right, but I do not think you would ever be able to see any "details" of anything inside the tent.
Looks freakishly light and at a great price to boot. I wonder how the stability is with one pole and if condensation is an issue.

The newest version of Big Sky's Wisp "Super Bivy" tent that Massdrop is offering does has two (2) top vents, one on each side for cross flow ventilation.
hikeasaur
Big Sky's Wisp "Super Bivy" tent is pretty stabile with one pole. I have used it in some pretty strong storms that have knocked other tents over. It is rated for 3-Seasons conditions.
This thing looks great on paper, but I don't see a single review out there. I think Big Sky makes some decent equipment, but the company's website is so confusing I've never ordered anything from them. Anyone have this tent?
How does it compare in quality to say a Tarptent ProTrail?
I just bought a used supr-sil UL version this tent this morning before the notification email came.
The supr sil UL shaves 2.5 ounces.
Does upgrading to the Super-Sil UL fabric save any weight? What are the advantages of the upgrade?
