Update on my test, a little disappointed to say the least.
1) Used the PowerLight until the low battery kicked in (light blinks and only operates on low power.
2) Charge it overnight with an inline USB power meter, put back 2.26Ah at 5.17V, or 11.7Wh.
3) Used the USB output to charge an iPad 2 (60% battery on the iPad) with power meter inline (0.93A drain at 5.04V - 4.7W drain).
4) Waited until PowerLight shut down due to low battery. Meter shows that it could only output 8Wh - compared that with the spec'd 16Wh. (btw, had to use the Sony power bank to power up the meter since the PowerLight wouldn't turn out the USB output with battery is low). All the quality power banks I've used (eg - Sony, genuine Xiaomi) have no problem outputting close to 90% of their rated Wh ratings.
- one more update -
Cycled the unit one more time, and I'm still getting the same Wh rating for output (8Wh). fwiw MassDrop quickly processed a RMA return (will have to wait for weeks or more if want a replacement unit).
If BioLite could modify the design so that the 18650 batteries are user replaceable (I'm surprised that GoalZero has started to do this with their latest products, btw), imo that would widen the appeal and usage quite a bit, especially since I can now guarantee that I'm putting in quality cells instead of some no-name-no-quality 18650.

Received my drop, have an issue with the product though - one of the site light power jacks won't work, in addition the PowerLight came fresh out of the package with only 2 leds on the power indicator (~50% full). After charging it up, I had it out just this weekend and battery life/burn time is quite shy of the stated specs. Who do I contact for faulty new product issues?
Assuming that it works right out of the box, it is a rather nifty setup for casual camping/outdoor activities, warm white LED's are great; the main gripe I have is with the buttons; they could really do with better tactile feel and reduce the amount of pressure required to hold it down (for dimming), given the tiny size of the buttons and close spacing.
Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey now. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.

valerie_cherishAll of their other products use Bio-matter aka burning sticks to thermoelectrically charge a lipo battery.

I guarantee those aren't the same high capacity 18650 cells used in Teslas. 2 cells at 16 watt hours total comes out to 2200 mAh each, which are about the cheapest worst capacity cells on the market. Just get yourself a decent 2 18650 power bank on amazon and buy a cheap usb led light strip.

Just how useful are those lumen values? I'm trying to get a quick comparison to other common lights.

Dienekes00A standard 60w incandescent bulb has between 400-650 lumens output, depending on brand. The torch says it has a 250 lumen torch and seeing as there are two bulbs or diodes, it is probably 125 lumens each, focused light, which is fine for back country use.

The description has a typo, if anyone cares. I think the battery size is 2x 18650, not 1860. The cells would be 18mm dia, 65mm long. Not sure what the 0 is for, but that's how Li-Ion batteries are sized. Cool thing is that this is a standard size among e-cigarette batteries. Not sure whether they're reasonably user-serviceable in this unit; but if they are, and if you ever need to replace the cells, you can get replacements from just about any local vape shop I'd imagine.

How disappointing. From the picture it looked like someone came up with an invention to get energy directly from a tree.
