When will this drop open again? Looking for the straight one (non ergo).
everline
Really wanting these as well!
Do the ergo handles affect a trekking pole tent setup at all? Also, what is the difference between the alpine and trail versions of these? Thanks.
Got a shipping notice today :-)

What ws was the price on this drop?
ankitb
$99.99 for the Ergo. +$6 for the Carbon
Just like to know if this item has been shipped out.Tq
Please have this drop again. I just missed out on the alpine carbon. it was sold out
Has anyone used these poles before? Would it be better to get the Ergo grip (15 degree grip, 2 carbon/ 1 aluminum section) or the Carbon without the 15 degree grip angle but all 3 carbon sections?

You should post this on our newest outdoor thread about gear closets! https://www.massdrop.com/talk/3498/ongoing-show-tell-gear-closet

They are available now on Amazon prime for $126
Solid price Massdrop, good job.
Fuzzymuzzle
sure is-I happily paid 150 a year ago :(
Anybody else didn't get any tip protectors?
OrCohen
I didn't receive any tip protectors either.
OrCohen
I didnt.
is this the 2017 model? Let's hope we get an answer!
Jpackjessi
The pictures are a bit old, but the poles being sold are the newest model available by BD.
Is it the latest (2017) version or old version ?
I noticed that the cork grip is differnt between pictures, one with a finger notch and one without. Which type is this drop offering? (Also, as previous commenter, is this the 2017 version?)
RMitch
Given the age of the drop the promotional photos feature the old handle design. The current design is as pictured in product model at the bottom of the page - not so ergonomically shaped.
I own these. For the price the handles should be a LOT nicer.
Is this the 2017 version?
Saw 4 days left on the drop yesterday but totally missed that there were only 30 units available.... bummer. +1 Vote for a BD Carbon Cork re-drop!
Is there by any chance some interaction with Black Diamond toward a redrop?
Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Black Diamond Alpine Ergo Cork Poles and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.

Are these 2015 poles?
sbrody
I was wondering the same thing.
sbrody
My guess is yes based on pictures / price

The price is for two poles I'm right?
Since this is for the carbon cork and not the ergo cork I believe the poles do not have the 15° ergonomic slant to the handle. Admins should fix the specs section (and the image if possible).
CalebK
@CalebK - Yes, we previously dropped the Alpine Ergo Cork and Alpine Carbon Cork in the same drop, and the photo is of former. I've adjusted the specs to reflect this, but we won't be able to change out the photos until the next time we drop these. Thanks!
The pictured poles are NOT the Alpine Carbon Corks - they are the Alpine Ergo Corks. The difference is the Ergo Corks have slanted handles and an aluminum upper, whereas the Alpine Corks have straight handles and are 100% carbon. Which poles are actually being sold here?
gregakinman
@gregakinman - Good eye! This drop is the for the Alpine Carbon Cork poles. We sometimes have the Alpine Carbon Cork and Ergo Cork in the same drop, which is why the photos are show the Ergo Cork model. You are right that the Alpine Carbon Cork have full carbon shafts and the straight handle.
Just got my alpine carbons in the mail today.
Pretty. Effing. Spiffy. I really like the design of the handle and while the palming surface isn't as wide as my leki poles, overall between weight, the ease of the locking system, the choke handle, and the design of the cork handle, they're superior to my rather beloved leki poles. If you're a handstrap fan like I am those are some seriously comfortable straps.
Gonna test them tomorrow! I look forward to it.
Edit: Well that sucks. Something is rattling in the handle of my left trekking pole. It sounds like a screw, or what I'm more afraid of, a chip of carbon fiber from a crack or something like that rattling around.
Contacted Black Diamond to see if I can disassemble this or if I need to return it or what.
SWestberg
@SWestberg - what ended up being the issue? What was the resolution?
Good news group. The vendor just confirmed that your orders are now on the way. Tracking will be uploaded to your transaction page as soon as it's scanned into the carrier's system. Please allow 24-48 hours for the page to reflect the latest status of your order.

Massdrop admins, could you tell the shipped package dimensions this drop will come to (for the alpine cork)? Thanks.
Hey everyone -- I recently had a chance to put these trekking poles though some pretty serious testing during a backpacking trip in the Denali Wilderness. I was very impressed with how they held in the rugged, trail-less terrain; there were a few times they got wedged between sharp rocks and I thought for sure I would hear a 'crack' or feel a bend, but they sprung back without any structural damage. Now that I've used angled cork grips, I don't think I will ever go back to straight or foam.

Can anyone speak to how much extra vibration dampening the full carbon model has over the one where only the middle and bottom sections are carbon? Thinking about getting these for a planned thru hike attempt of the Appalachian Trail.
I will need this to arrive at my shipping address prior to November 10th, is that realistic?
