Beach_Guy My streets are not well lit and I live in an environment with heavy rain & foggy conditions and plenty of uneven sidewalk. I prefer not being hit by a car or bicycle anytime I cross a road or driveway so adding some additional visibility is a plus.
I tilt my headlamp down ( it can rotate quite easily ), turn it off or just cover it with my hand when I pass someone or talk to them. It is entirely possible these people who look you directly in the eye are just unaware and you could politely inform them as most people would alter their behaviour if they knew it was offensive.

westcoastYeah? Well where I live we don't get fog, our sidewalks and streets are well maintained, and streetlights illuminate any stray squirrel or raccoon that might consider crossing your path. That... and people don't go for evening walks in the rain. Congratulations... you might be the one person in the world who understands that shining a stupid headlamp into peoples eyes is a dick move. Do you really think the rest of us should waste our time telling people to stop being rude? We may as well tell jackasses in theaters to put down their effing phones and watch the god damned film or live performance the rest of us paid to see.
Last year we had idiots wandering all over the place with their heads down, staring into their stupid effing phones, hunting for Pokemon. Now it's retards with headlamps on their foreheads, strolling under the streetlights, shining their stupid lights into the eyes of passers by. Dicks!

I see, because griping and moaning about on Massdrop is such a better use of time and so much more effective.

Beach_GuyI'm right there with you man. If you're out in the woods with me at night you're using red light or nothing at all.
I remember once we were on a NPS ranger led stargazing tour and all the clueless impervious people walking up late with white light flaring everyone's night vision ... people started getting rude about it (and they were right to)

Beach_GuyI realise you posted a year ago, but I wear a headlamp when walking the dog after dark. If ya think that the dog is considerate and only poops in fully covered by street light areas nope. I want a hand for leash and the other hand is in the poop bag to clean it up. Leaves no other hand to hold flashlight. I turn it on to see where he's doing it, pick it up, turn it off. No dickhead move involved.
