I have one of these and have never looked back. I will only ever use a full tent again if the bug situation is horrendous and poisonous. It is the best thing out there for the weight, space, and price. I have used it in the snow too, fabulous. There is plenty of room for two people and all gear, in the winter it is even more spacious. You can set it up high or low depending on weather and bug situation. We use a light polycro ground tarp. Here are a couple pictures with gear to hopefully give it scale.

CardamomteaI have used this tent for years and am a big fan. For snowtrips, you dig down a bit and use "deadman" anchors instead of stakes for more stability. These are essentially bags you fill with snow and pack down.

CourtFaySince I don't usually bring trekking/ski poles when backpacking, would it be better for me to get the BD Mega Light tarp instead?
