DannyMilksI can't take a pic now, but for anyone interested in a size comparison between the current Spot design with the similar rectangular housing and this new Ion, there is very little difference. The new Ion is maybe 3/8" shorter in width and only 1/8" or so shorter in depth (lens to forehead)...just a little more compact. Using the higher voltage lithium battery allows it to have some punch and basically save the weight of one set of 3 AAA batteries. Comparing the current Spot to the 2nd and 3rd generation Spot models (the housing type shown in Danny's photos), the sizes are nearly the same...current one is only about 3/16" shorter in depth and about the same for length and width. So if the other features of the Spot fit your needs more than the Ion does, you're not looking at much extra bulk and just a little extra weight. This Ion is impressive with the amount of light it gives for the compact size, compared to most other similarly sized models on the market. The beam shape is a little different than what we're used to from Black Diamond but it works very well and is part of where their lumen rating and distance comes from. They describe it as oval, and it surely isn't round, but it isn't oblong enough to be so noticeable or irritating to the eyes at night...they did a good job.
