I have gotta say, that after having this thing for a few months.. It is so versatile, I find a use for it nearly every day in my home life, and working as a musician/technician. yeah some of the coating has faded, but that's not really a big issue.. just shows it's been used.

第一次買leatherman 的產品 一拿到有點傻眼 黑色塗裝不是非常平均 而且整支工具 都是黑色油污 不考慮這個色系的產品了

I got mine today and surprise surprise.!! I got a leatherman charge tti instead of a Wave black. This has turned out to be a better deal than what I paid for.

Mine just arrived today. As others have noted, watch for the oily black oxide wiping off on your nice clothes! I spent some time rubbing my fingers all over the safe surfaces to remove the excess oxide and oil, and then went over it again with a paper towel.
It comes pretty stiff, but that will get better with time. With some effort, I'm able to get the straight and serrated knives open and closed with one hand, although I have to reposition my thumb mid-swing. I much prefer this initial stiffness to feeling loosey-goosey, since loose tools can be pretty dangerous later on.
Let's see how it wears with time!

That said, MD probably should have included a ~formal warning~ about how to deal with the black oxide coating. I know it's cliche to say, but: It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Anyone who complains about the black oxide coming off clearly didn't do *any* research into this product before buying it.

Read the reviews. Use it for fifteen minutes, wash your hands, squirt some WD-40 on it and you'll be golden. If you can't trade fifteen minutes of handling your tool for a more corrosion-resistant finish, then by all means return this product.

I received my Wave yesterday, and am extremely happy with it. Yes, the black oxide comes off a bit, but that's the way it is. Its not meant to be a rust preventative coating, but an anti reflective coating. Mine is a little stiff to open, but over time it will work itself out. This is my 8th Leatherman product over the years, and I have not been disappointed this far.

I just receive this item, it is horrendous to open, even after oiling it. The black paint was coming off on my hands, very disappointed. I contacted Leatherman, and Massdrop. After all the time spent waiting, thinking I'm getting a great deal, not very happy.

JbdjembeSame experience here--both issues. I'm especially disappointed that some of the tools are impossible to open without getting *another* tool (such as a screwdriver) out of the tool drawer to pry it open with.

gibbousmoonReally? I've been able to open all the tools using my bare hands. The only tool that I have a bit of trouble with is the micro screwdriver. I couldn't pull it out to reverse it and switch between flat and phillips, so I needed some pliers.
Actually, that micro driver is the only weak point I've found so far. It's not fine enough to fix my glasses with, so I still need a separate micro driver for that on my keychain.
