Does anyone know if the parking mode will engage if the cameras are powered using the cigarette lighter or will it have to be hardwired into the car?

SteveAI don't have this specific model. However, dash cams need to be hardwired into to fuse box. where it can get power supply even when the car is off, for example lighting systems. Normally, cigarette lighter is powered only when the car is 'on.'
Power Magic Pro is so-called 'uninterrupted power supply box' which has no function but setting minimum voltage border to prevent the dash cam uses out the whole battery power when parking, if your battery power is getting lower than the minimum voltage border, it cuts power supply to the dash cam in order to prevent further power consumption. Power Magic Pro is not necessary to use parking surveillance mode, however it is highly recommended, otherwise your car can't be start up after several hours of parking surveillance. Some dash cams also has timer setting for their parking surveillance. In this case, you may not need to have
Modern uninterrupted power supply boxes like Power Magic Pro are connected to both cigarette lighter, and also lighting system at the same time. it pulls power from the cigarette lighter when the car is 'on', while you are driving, and when the car is parked(off), it senses electrical power is off from cigarette lighter, then it pulls power from the lighting system, and goes into parking mode.
Based on my experience, if you are using shock & movement detection mode for the parking surveillance mode, it doesn't lasts several hours, and highly likely to damage the car battery unless you have uninterrupted power supply boxes.
