Just got mine and I am disappointed fisher space pen is not a tactical pen. The CRKT Jernigan VASP is from china and has an issue opening and closing, The Jet-U flashlight is a poor piece also made in china along with a stocking that comes from china. I which I would have researched the products before purchasing. They were all listed so its my fault but I really thought the quality would have been better and I really wanted a "tactical" pen not a metal pen that will write anywhere. I searched these out on the net and priced them. It wasn't really much of a deal. I will be more careful in the future.

daveronlineI'd have to agree. All of these base items are a let down. The VASP seems impossible to open with the flipper, and the liner lock is a bit loose and moves under moderate pressure. Considering this is the most expensive part of the basic bundle, I'm pretty disappointed. Not sure this is even worth giving to the person I bought it for.

Capn_SpankyAlso I am kinda thinking that all the ones that have shipped are basic, which has me a little bummed mine is coming tomorrow. Hopefully it was not the upgrade items that were holding up shipping and all the ones that shipped early have the crappy items.

daveronlinePart of the reason I go into this drop was I knew I would be happen with just the "basic" Space Pen. They are actually my current EDC because they are so lightweight but durable and easy to get the pen open unlike most "tactical" screw off pens.
As for the rest, I do understand not being satisfied with the quality of the items from the factory. But unless you can show the vendor was using seconds or something, it is what it is and what you would have go any way buying these items. The cheapest I could make this drop myself using domestic retailers like Amazon came out to about $70 (FSP $15, VASP $25, Jet-U $20, Stocking $10) before any shipping or taxes plus the chance for an upgrade. These days, that seems to be a pretty good deal at Massdrop.

daveronlineThe fisher space pen is a very good entry level pen, and is considered an entry level tactical pen in every edc circle I've been around. Also with no upgrades this package was over 70 without tax from amazon with prime. 50 for that is a good deal, and the 10 back makes it that much better.
I am truly confused at what you expected from this. You aren't going to get upper tier edc anything for 50 bucks, let alone a full package.

Blwallace5Nothing to be confused about. I understand the price vs quality. However it would be nice if all products worked correctly. The knife does not open and close correctly as a matter of fact it doesn't close all the way unless I put extra pressure on it which I stated in my first post. The fisher pen is definitely the highlight of the package but is not multi-useful. And to top it off since I wrote my first review I opened the flashlight and it only works on its low setting. So... I have two of four items that don't even work correctly. Also if you shop each item on the internet you can get all of these items for $50 -$70 . So yes I saved $10 -30 dollars but I have two items that do not work and if I would have bought them individually I could return them. So I paid $40 for a stocking and a fisher pen, a $25 value on the high side. That hardly makes it a bargain. Also this was going to be a Christmas present, now I need to go shopping to replace it.. hardly a value. Yes, I will agree for the time and effort this package given that all was working it would have been okay but now with the poor quality of the items and having to rush around to replace them, I am really bummed.

MattCFIII am not satisfied because I really wanted to give this as a gift. The knife does not work correctly and the flashlight only works on its low setting. It's my fault I could have done a little research but I figured they would not be high quality but I at very least expected them to work correctly. I did not price these on Amazon but I did through blue ridge and ebay and I saved roughly $10 using massdrop and that really even isn't the point. To give this as a gift now I need to go out locally and replace these items to give it by Christmas and to get a knife and flashlight I am going to have to spend at very least another $25 plus my time to drive and shop. I love massdrop and have been using it for awhile now. I have always gotten great deals and maybe that is adding to my let down. I expected a great entry level gift for a friend and I didn't get that or the value this time.

daveronlineDon't know about the knife, but I already have a jetbeam-1 mk, and it's a great light. From what I can tell, the micro is just a AAA version of it... It should still be covered by warranty at least.

daveronlineI definitely would be bummed as well, and if I were you I would make sure massdrop makes it right. My knife is working perfectly so it's definitely not a model wide problem, somrhing specific to yours unfortunately. I also thought the jet beam was only on low settings until I figured out that it was operator error. It's a decent little light so again I would complain loudly until massdrop fixes this for you.

CodeMonkeyXJust an FYI that the ones that arrived later were not the upgrades. You got my hopes up but not to be. I also didn't realize that the Fischer pen was the base--but that is totally my bad. I already have one--and it is EDC for me...when I can keep track of it (it's small)--but don't mind getting another. For 40 bucks, this works out OK for me.
