This could just as well be a cableless device that sticks into the keyboard USB port instead of this dangling thing that you've to be aware at all times. My 2 cents

LukelexI don't think that would work. What bluetooth thing are you talking about.

Slap them inside the keyboard case or 3d print a case to put it in alongside a usb male port that locks into your case.

LukelexI think the reasoning they went with a USB is because many non mechanical keyboards dont come with a detachable mini usb to usb cable.

LukelexHey, would this actually work? Would it be as easy as plugging in a keyboard, hooking up the battery, and connecting it to your laptop?

EpicBlobUnfortunately nothing in electronic is "easy". But I've make it work with a really crappy keyboard I have laying around. The energy efficiency wasn't good but that's mainly because the board was badly designed and draw too much power (regardless of using battery or straight from the usb cable).
