I can't understand how is it possible that the shipping costs are just about the same as the product price, Especially when we are talking about a watch strap! It can be shipped in a simple envelope for crying out loud! Would be great if you reconsider your shipping method for this one, even if it means ditching the original packaging if it has any effect on the matter... I'm sure others will agree...

VinoShipping cost is determined by the product's weight and size, not the sell price. In thiscase I understand that the international shipping costs are high compared to the low cost of the item, but there's very little we can do about this unfortunately. We'll continue doing what we can to keep our shipping costs as low and accurate as possible.

IanAndersonIan,
First of all thank you for the prompt and thoughtful reply! I completely understand your point, and I considered it before I made my comment.
If we are taking into account the size and weight of a NATO watch strap, How is it that it is twice as expensive as the Zippo shippng rate for example? surely you'll agree that it weighs less compared to the zippo and the size is almost unnoticeable and can be fitted in a simple letter envelope and yet the shipping costs are 13$ for the strap and 5.50$ for the Zippo. I'm sorry for being so strict about this and I'm sure you are doing your best (evidently I have made several transactions with you and I'm happy overall) but I can't understand the logic here.... I'm with you guys for a couple of years now and I'm keeping track on the prices of the products and the shipping rates and this one seems abnormal.
Again, if the thing that drags the shipping rates up is a bulky/heavy/oversized package that the strap comes in, please do consider just sending them without it, and I believe it would be appreciated by everyone. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense purchasing this product if you order abroad.
BTW: Love the fact that you are starting to get into watches and watch accessories more seriously lately! I think a watch community is a great idea and long over due :) The Nomos and Junghans drops were great to have, unfortunately just caught me in a tricky time financially but I do hope that I'll be able to join them in the future (if you'll be able to bring them back); would love to see things like heavy duty and quality spring bars and strap replacement tools, and of course more watches and straps.

VinoThanks for the thoughtful reply!
I hear what you're saying here. I'm not involved with this drop in particular, but what I can see (without going into too much detail) is that the shipping setup we have with this vendor is different than what we do with other products (like that Zippo) and that has affected the ship price. I don't know all the details and I certainly don't claim to be an expert on that front, but I think that's what's up. I can look into it more but I doubt anything will change.
On the plus side - if you're getting into those watches and would like to see a watch community on Massdrop, keep your eyes peeled for an email going out soon :)

IanAnderson1) I think it would be much appreciated by the community if you (or anyone else really) will take the complaints about the shipping issue upstream and let the relevant parties know how the community feels about it.... It is kind of absurd after all and the rest of the comments in here shows it is being perceived as problematic at best.... it seems like you would have a LOT more international buyers (myself included) if that issue would have been resolved and it is just a shame to leave it at that... so I think it is worth a try even if it doesn't seem likely that it would change.
Furthermore, I would be willing to talk extensively to the relevant party regarding the shipping policy and offerings from the communitys perspective, as it seems that there are some things that I noticed that are being raised on multiple occasions and there may be a better way to handle some of the shipping matters that are constantly discussed within the different threads.
2) Holly crap! I was just about to reply and saw the email announcing the new community! Such great news and boy I guess my timing was great !
Thank you very much for the heads up.... I may be able to be of some assistance in forming the community so if you guys want pointers/tips/suggestions and anything else really, you are welcome to reach out... my background may be useful to you guys and there are a lot of things that can be done in order to get it right from the get go as a watch community has very different characteristics and needs compared to other communities...
The watch community may be a tricky concept to implement as it may require some specific adjustments for it to work out, but it is very exciting and I'm thrilled it is finally happening! way to go Massdrop for feeling the vibe!

IanAndersonYou have 3 watches dropping right now. Of those 3 watches, two have cheaper shipping than this NATO strap, and one has the same shipping price. I don't understand how that is possible given the greater shipping volume and weight of a whole watch versus a lightweight strap that fits in an envelope.
The shipping on this drop just seems, frankly, like a rip-off.
Anyway, looking forward to the watch community, and I'd like to see more nato straps, perhaps from a vendor with more reasonable shipping costs.

nnguyenGreat site, great variety. Ordered from them in the past and great service. But the quality is not the same. The buckle and keepers are way more sturdier than the natostrapsco versions. I know, because I have a few of them lol. And the fabric is totally different weave.
