Last year, Taipei-based BN Works set out on a mission to create a sleeker, sturdier pen—one to replace the pile of pens that typically clutter your bag, desk, or drawer. The result is the BNdot: a retractable ballpoint that’s got a whole lot going for it. Machined from 304 stainless steel, it overdelivers when it comes to construction and durability, two common weak points in everyday-carry pens. But where the BNdot really stands out is its pocket clip, which also works to deploy the tip. Simply press down once to extend the tip, and press down again to snap it back into the barrel. The clip’s position on the side of the barrel prevents accidental deployment, and the preloaded refill means you can get writing straightaway.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of finish: chrome (base price), black (+ $10), or champagne (+ $10). You’ll also have the option to add a 3-pack of Schmidt P900 refills in black (+ $8).
Each BNdot pen comes preloaded with a Schmidt P900 black refill, and also accepts the Parker-style G2—an ISO standard refill for a variety of pens—and the Schmidt EasyFlow 9000. Note that with the EasyFlow, your BNdot will write a bit more like a rollerball.
Founded in 2015, BN Works is operated by second-generation pen maker Tony Kuo. Kuo and his team believe in the value of writing with a pen and ink, and the ability of the written word to start conversations, open doors, and transport you to another place. Along with innovative writing tools like the BNdot, the company produces a diverse range of stationery products.
