If Massdrop can get Boker to commit to another batch of the custom S35VN FR knives I'd buy several in a heartbeat. Purchasing a VG-10 small daily carry for $124.99 doesn't seem justifiable when many manufactures offer similar performance steel such as the Benchamade Mini-Griptilian with 154CM in the $90 range or better steels like the MDxFF Gent CF with S35V for only $100.

I got the massdrop exclusive version of this knife. Its taken me a while to warm to it, the action took a bit of bedding in and the lock bar is a bit sticky as there is no insert. After a good bit of break in, I'm definately coming around, it looks great, is a nice size. The blade grind was off on the MD exclusive but that can be fixed.

Perfect size for EDCing and great-looking. Lots of Bokers are.
By comparison, the original MD Gent with S35V steel was $80; the new version, with carbon fiber scales, is still just $100.
The Gents are made by WE Knives, with quality that is usually best in industry.
The quality of Boker Plus knives is often subpar. In my case, almost always.
Sadly, I’ve not had good experience trying to communicate with Boker’s USA warranty service.
Bottom line, I view buying this great-looking piece like purchasing a lottery ticket.

This is one that's been on my list for a while, and $114 would beat the BladeHQ price by ten bucks; shipping would be free through either retailer.
While perusing the BHQ site, however, I noticed they have an exclusive model w/ marbled carbon (vs the usual weave offered here) for $99. Which provides a nice context for me to ask a question I've often wondered: do you all folks prefer one style of carbon fiber over another? Or to be more specific, given the choice between woven and marbled carbon fiber, do you usually prefer one or the other (for the sake of this query, I'm not asking about the more premium varieties out there, i.e., "lightning strike", just the standard woven type)?
My observation of the public's knife buying habits would suggest the woven is the preferred style, but I wonder if that has more to do with familiarity than anything else, since the woven type is more common; perhaps people are afraid the marbled type isn't as light, strong, non-reactive, etc., having no personal experience with it themselves? Personally, I love the look of marbled carbon--I find it more aesthetically pleasing, and just classier looking overall. But the first knife I ever bought with carbon scales had the marbled variety, so maybe I'm biased. That was a the BladeOps exclusive Boker/Burnley kwaiken w/ duplex-ground, high satin finished blade and I still think it's one of the best looking knives around, esp for <$200.
Anyhow, I'm genuinely interested: give me all your thoughts on carbon fiber. Do you like it or not? Are you willing to pay more and how much? Is it a gimmick to jack the cost? Does it look stupid but is worth it for weight reduction? Or looks great but not worth the loss of strength in the knife's frame? And of course, woven or marbled?
