Updated 10/12 via email
Hi everyone, We have a quick update for you. We have now received these units to our warehouse and expect them to ship to you by the end of next week. To compensate you for the delay and slow communication with this drop, we have processed a $10 partial refund for your order. You can expect to see the funds in your account in the next 2-3 business days.

Update 10/3 From Jonas (Massdrop Custom Products) - copied from below:
Hey everyone,
We know you've been waiting on this, and we appreciate your patience. Our team has been following up almost daily but had a hard time getting concrete info, but we finally have tracking info that shows the shipment is due to arrive at our warehouse this week, as early as tomorrow.
Our warehouse is currently experiencing an unusually high volume of shipments, so we don't have an exact date for them shipping out to members just yet. Once they arrive and have been processed by the receiving department, we'll update the group with a date by which you should see tracking info.
Thanks again for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please click "Contact Support" in the Transactions area of your member profile so our team can reference your specific order.
------- Update 9/30:
Boker has told us that they sent the latest batch of 800 units to us yesterday, so we expect them to arrive next week. Sorry for the additional delay on us receiving and sending out this drop. There will be some time needed for receiving, processing (quality control check), and then labeling and shipping, and these should be shipped out within 7-14 days of them landing in our warehouse.
I'll try and get more information on specific timeline along with pictures when they hit our warehouse, and will share an update with you all then. (Next update on or before: 10/9)
---- Hey all - I wanted to provide an (overdue) update to you. Due to production taking longer than initially anticipated, these orders are shipping later than the original estimate. Based on the timing we’ve been given by Boker, we expect all orders to be shipped by 9/29 at the latest, but will be shipping orders out in batches as soon as they come in starting next week (9/11-9/15). I know this delay is a disappointment, but I also know it’s way worse that we did not update you accordingly until now. Mistakes and delays happen, but it’s on us to be as upfront, timely, and consistent in communication with you about them as we can be. I’m sorry for the delay, and even more so for our poor communication. I’m working with the team to fix the breakdown in the process that led to lack of an update for so long. If you have feedback for me on this, feel free to reply here or reach out to me at brad.ross@massdrop.com. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button on your transactions page and our Community Support Team will be able to help cancel your order up until it is ready for shipment. Thank you.
bradrHow will this delay in production affect those in the second shipment scheduled for October 2nd?

bradrNobody doesn't like free stuff. Throwing a little something into each box might sweeten people's disposition. I ordered the deep carry clip and I hope I can still find it once this knife arrives.

bradrI would appreciate an update a day that said there was nothing meaningful to report than what we got this drop with updates of it being on time at regular intervals then nothing till now. In the future I would like to see that whenever you get in contact with the vendor of a product, either them contacting you or you contacting them, give us an update with just what we need and drop the "expect update by 'date'" ting because it has become a point of contention. I would love to see an email that says " found an issue early in production, we'll you updated" or "shipping delayed, logistics are fun" rather than the cookie cutter responses that are always too late to matter.
Edit: on seccond thought I should have lead with thanks for owning this situation like @pcgf340 did. Know that I seccond that sentiment

BuddhalobesWaiving the delivery fee on this occasion would be a nice touch, this was intended as a gift that I doubt will be arriving on time

bradrThank you for owning the communication breakdown, I think we all appreciate it.
The fact is that this operation isn't Amazon, and I don't expect next day service. I don't buy urgently needed tools or products from here; I buy from here to save a little bit and discover products I wouldn't usually consider. It's impulse-buy central for me.
Thank you for the sitrep, I look forward to getting a tracking number!

pcgf340As a veteran of kickstarter, I am not particularly phased by events like this, and just appreciate that you are still talking to us. Had a few kickstarters where they deleted all social media, stopped paying for their domain name, and completely disappeared with the money. :P

bradrThank you for the update.
I know some manufacturers sacrifice QC with the goals of meeting deadlines. I'm speaking for myself here, but please don't. I'd rather wait an additional few weeks to ensure a 100% pristine quality product. Take all the time you need.

FrankieLidmanYou got me beat by a day. I ordered one April 6th and a second one June 3rd. Still waiting w/no communication from MD whatsoever. I started out fairly enthusiastically w/this site but that enthusiasm and order frequency dropped fairly quickly after learning about MDs shitty customer service, the questionable quality of the electronics they peddle, and crappy delivery estimates w/no follow through by MD if thinks do not go right. A business model like that just can't survive. Who in their right mind would pay for a product, be told that "oh, we'll "promise" to ship it out on this date" and then months go by w/no information and no part. Ah, crap, I was one of those guys.
I have yet to come across such an astonishing deal that would offset the shortcomings of this place. After getting the knives whenever, but hopefully before I'll die of old age, I'll be done dealing w/MD.

DesastorWhat makes you say the electronics are questionable?
DesastorTheir customer service has always been great in my experience - everyone I've spoken to has always helped me out really well. Whether it was Allen Edmonds' shoddy quality control on their exclusive or here, they've always helped me out and understood my concerns and have responded with detail and courtesy. Boker is giving me the runaround saying they can't do anything with the knife when they requested to be contacted for repairs in the first place and so even now someone from their customer support team is being super understanding and helping me straighten this mess out. I think the vendors are the ones who make the estimates and stuff, and it's up to them to deliver on that. They just fail to, since I know MD themselves don't make anything, their designers just collaborate if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not trying to shit on you or anything - I'm just on the other side of the hill here. I've had some bad experiences with products and they've always had my back with refunds or replacements when the manufacturers are the ones slacking.

bradrSix months. Half of a year. in 7 days, it will be six months since I purchased this knife.
The listing said 120 days to manufacture and deliver.
All I know is that I will never purchase from this particular vendor again. This has been an absolutely ridiculous experience. Statistically, speaking, someone most likely died while waiting on this knife to be built. This has soured my taste towards massdrop as well.

M_chefYou have to rethink your opinio. This knife is build aspecially for this drop. Maybe Böker didn't got the materials early enough to get done whilst the deadline.
I already got a Böker Plus Kwaigen with a g10 handle, you will really love your item when you recive it! The materials and the quality of this product is awesome!

piet.schloesserDude I have several bokers kwaikens. I've never had one take 6 months. This is a wooden scaled, polished blade knife. It's not some locally sourced whole grain ti-mascus with meteroite scales and a pocket clip infused with tritium and gold.

M_chefI don't think Boker Plus has successfully produced a mirror polished blade before this drop. It might be a big deal.

bradrHi Brad,
I've submitted 2 requests using "Contact Support" and have yet to receive a response. Please dont encourage your customers to submit requests by this method if you guys have no intention of following up with your customer. You guys are getting schooled with how to handle your customers, please learn and adapt.

bradrHi Brad - I've double-checked spam and my regular inbox but am unable to find the responses. I did, however, receive the email notifying me of the refund of $10 for shipping (as well as the original order confirmation from months ago).
Notice to all - I did receive the knife in today's mail (original order placed on April 12). It is in perfect condition! Serial # 220, no flaws except for the blade being very-slightly off centered, not enough to warrant a disassembly/tweak. It opens flawlessly, horizontal grain on the slabs (perfect), mirror finish is spotless. Paired it with the deep carry clip I purchased through MD (also spotless).

M_chefSo I got my knife in the mail today.
Review.
Beautifully done. No flaws that I can find. Finish is beautiful.
The wood scales feel a bit...... raw.... I wish they were a bit smoother in the hand.
The knife is very chunky and grimy upon flipping open. Often sticks before fully flipping. I guess it's going to require a lot of tuning. Maybe 6 months worth.

M_chefI received my knife yesterday as well. You are correct. The wood is ”natural “. No sealer, no protective coating. It will absorb any & all oil on your hand and will quickly discolor. FAIL.

operator1I received my knife serial# 0951 this week as well. The blade is centered and no issues with the grinds. No dings or scratches on the scales but no sealer of any sort. Very dry..Since this is not a gift I coated the scales with Renaissance Wax, which I highly recommend. That was a very long wait but all said I'm pleased with this knife, but probably would not do this again.
