Add me to those who would prefer a black clip and screws. Not big on the idea of the clip being blue as I prefer something which will attract the least amount of attention when carrying, I could be wrong but I think the blue would attract more looks.

Blue would pop as a contrast, but black and black screw would be way better then silver which has nothing to do with colors of the knife...I WISH SOMEONE AT MASSDROP WOULD LET US KNOW IF ITS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THAT CLIP .......

Is this way they make the blade black? To be less obvious (serious question)? I wasn't sure if there is a real function or if it were simply for astethics.

BarryOBarry, don't worry. Earlier in the thread, the person making this drop possible dropped in to say hi, thank us for purchasing, and let everybody know that he wouldn't be around for the rest of the weekend, but that he would be logging on this week to read the thread in its entirety and answer all unanswered questions/concerns.
I never clarified in my response, I'd definitely prefer black screws/clip...but if all they'll do is blue, I'd take that over nothing any day.

VerwilderdIn this knife the black coating is mostly aesthetic rather than functional, though reducing the blade's visual profile is arguably both. Coatings either serve to prevent corrosion, reduce reflectivity, or of course to be aesthetically pleasing. S35VN is stainless so it will only rust in very wet, salty, or acidic conditions, meaning the black coat serves mainly the latter two purposes.
The description says the coating is PVD, or physical vapor deposition. I'm not an expert but here's a wiki article on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_vapor_deposition I'm pretty sure it works by vaporizing the coating material, and letting it condense on the intended object, though that's probably a gross oversimplification.
