So do we have a definitive answer whither or not the barings are caged or not?! Also are we going to have a updated shipping estimate anytime soon? Also sign me up for the black clip and screws! It would make the look that much nicer!

Pmrolly88I have the full titanium version, which has caged bearings. I had also several other Böker+ knives (eg. Impetus), all with caged IKBS.

I just don't understand the confusion. It's an incredibly simple concept. IKBS is essentially a brand name, created by two guys, Flavio Ikoma and Korth (Rick Lala's trademark). There are two types of IKBS, free bearings and caged bearings. Originally the former was more common, now the latter has gained popularity because it's easier to clean/maintain, and possibly more resistant to fouling. As far as I know, the later is also a more recent IKBS version, so in all likelihood Ikoma and Korth upgraded their brand. Again, simple concept, why stick with an inferior technology.
There are other companies with their own brands of bearing systems, Kershaw's KVT (acronym for Kershaw Velocity Technology I've heard) is a well known example, but others exist. While both cageless and caged brands probably exist, the later is, like with IKBS, probably the more favored currently (KVT is caged).

Pmrolly88The bearings will be the style pictured on the Description page. Estimated Ship Date will not be changing, as we don't have any new information from the factory that would indicate accelerate production or shipping schedule. We will do our best to give updates to the group as we have them, but I would ask for everyone's patience and understanding as we work with Boker to get this produced and shipped.

Thanks, that clarifies what I was saying nicely. I actually hadn't heard of single-row vs multi-row IKBS, so that's pretty neat. I'll have to look more at them, but I can already see through preliminary searching why they're free-floating.
