Hey has anyone encountered a problem where they seem to charge and supply the blue light but do not turn on when put into the ears? Since receiving them I have been unable to turn them on. Not too sure if this is a manufacturing fault or I am doing something wrong.
Cheers
Gxlnz
Yes, same story. Waiting for Bragi to respond.
Ok, I've had these since the original Kickstarter.
TLDR: They're great if you're not fat.
Basically, the connection can't go through stomach fat that well, so if you're fat and carry your phone in your left pocket (front or back), forget it (receiver is in the right earphone). If you are fat and carry your phone in your left pocket, it will drop out for half a second every 5 minutes or so, bearable. If you are thin and carry it in either pocket they're perfect. Make sure you install the latest firmware, version 3 is great, version 2 or less is bad, and the source of most bad reviews.
The microphone is good in non-windy environments, ok in noisy environments, great in quiet environments.
Otherwise, the charge lasts at least 2hrs at max volume, they sound great, much less visible than apple airpods with much lower 'wanker' factor, they're waterproof, you can load your own music in them and swim and/or leave your phone at home. Touch controls work great, fit (for me) is great.
The negatives are, the heartrate and O2 sensors that were promised are useless (software lets it down, not hardware), the case they fit in to recharge is giant and metal, and its fiddly to get them to sit flush with the case and recharge, unless you spend 20secs getting it right they might be flat the next time you go to use them.
However, no regrets, lost these for a year and still worked when I recharged them, great support, great longevity, no bluetooth pairing issues, would purchase again if I lost them.
Koopa
I feel you, I wear Skullcandy bluetooth headphones at work and they cut out if I turn my head and my neck fat covers the receiver...
Are these the first or second generation versions?
verlaine33
Yeah, these look like the first gen. the Second gen has Silver charging case
These are terrible. From my right pocket to my right ear the signal is constantly degraded and dropping. Unless you feel like holding your phone to your head, these will not be useful unless you want to use the onboard memory for 4 gigs of mp3s that you can not navigate in anyway besides back/foward. You could use theme for phone calls but no one will be able to hear you and if they do you will sound like you are under water. These are not the 'new updated' Pro models and as such are just beyond terrible. There is a moral issue with companies that still sell these for Bragi after Bragi has supposedly fixed the issue in new hardware revision but still push these old useless pieces of crap everywhere.
Don't buy these unless you want to be frustrated. The connection is extremely inconsistent, there's no interface for music on the devices in the app, and the health features are inaccurate. I haven't had an opportunity to compare to the Pro.
I should have read the reviews before buying these. The connection issue gave me a headache literally. The connection keep dropping on and off with the phone only 3 ft away in the pocket, how is this even legit. but ill just have to deal with it as it is, sigh! its a bad product, i wish they could fix this with software updates hopefully.
ohh nooo too many negative feebacks... I had dived in..
I'll wait till the pro version is on massdrop... there are a lot of complains about connectivity with this one.
ViXoZuDo
Just checked the Pro version price on eBay, they are three times more expensive!
Bobraz
this one used to be that price...
I am a cumpulsive "early adopter" and have had a pair of these for awhile.
The connection is inconsistent, but usually solid as long as you keep your phone on the right side of your body (right unit receives the signal).
The feature set you get for this price is 100% worth it. I paid a lot more and don't regret the purchase.
Reamde
Me too, same issues. But for what you get , I think it's worth it.
My wife had these and they had connection issues all the time. I'd avoid them.
i need to send them back do they go to massdrop or the mfg.
they have connection problems , very diffcult to charge has to fit perfectly in the charging station many times they only charge for a few mins because they are not sitting right in the charger. when u sweat while running the tend to fall out your ears. i am sending mine back.
I had a pair when they were first released. Experienced drop outs between each earbud and between my phone in my pocket. Returned em real quick. That being said, my mate got a pair at the same time. His are still working fine, although the connection to the phone is still pretty poor. Seems there are many faulty ones. The features are well worth the price though, if you get a working set lol
Rochanakay
I heard there was a firmware update which was supposed to fix a lot of things. Has your friend updated their firmware and if so did they notice an improvement or any new issues?
I've had the earbuds in the past and I have a few words of advice: don't buy them. The connection drops constantly, even when the phone is in your back pocket. You can't get more that 6 feet away from your phone without them dropping out. Wait until the Dash Pro lower in price. They're everything that made the dash great, but with actually good connection.
I was about to get them but there's a lot bad feedback here, and considering the pro version is already out, will worth? Does anyone know if the Pro version are getting on massdrop anytime?

There are a lot of complains about them loosing connection or just interruption for a second. Did you experience some of those, and if yes then how often? I would primarily use them in the gym with built-in player but sometimes also listen paired with my Shanling M1. Thanks.
romko
Yeah the most common scenario is when walking outside with the phone in a pant pocket (streaming music) - sometimes I lost connection for about a second when looking over my shoulder. It's definitely not an issue indoors, and is more noticeable outdoors. Easy fix is to use the onboard storage, no interruptions there. Also, they never lose connection between themselves, I've seen a few stories but those were defective.
PS: How often, I don't know, not enough that I would complain. I'm around 1m80 so taller persons might see it more often.
These only charge when connected to my PC. Anyone else experiencing this?
the2armedman
I have been charging my sample with a standard 1.1/2.0 usb ac charger with no problems.
the2armedman
99% is true lots of problems from charging , connection, and the charge not lasting as advertised.
have they ironed out their BT constant drop connection issue ?
Snowleopardsg
I have not experienced this issue with the sample I have been testing.
When is the Pro version going to drop here?? I don't really want to buy this when there is a newer version that's supposed to fix all the issues with this experimental first-gen product.

The bluetooth version in this product is Dual mode Bluetooth 4.0. I would say that is far from old. Could it be that many people that reviewed this product are using older devices with inferior Bluetooth connections in them? Maybe people are getting the Bragi Dash confused with "The Headphones" which does not have Dual mode Bluetooth 4.0 and only single mode. That would make sense why it does not work all the time.
As I have mentioned throughout this thread I have been testing these for some time now. I have not had the issues that others have reported. I have the Sony Z5 Premium mobile phone and they have been working great.
Lastly, the Bragi Dash Pro uses the same exact Bluetooth technology as the Bragi Dash. Both of them use Dual Mode Bluetooth 4.0. The Headphones by Bragi use You can find detailed specifications here.

Following what @B.Hutch said, you confuse Bluetooth standard version (so 4.0 with BLE support for The Dash - which is also the current standard in the industry) and capabilities of the antenna and protocol stack of both your system and The Dash. I have seen complaints, but all of them are related to outdoor use and cross-body connection, and I personally didn't have issue with it (cf my other comment in the drop discussion).
I'm interested but the last two comments are keeping me from clicking the buy button. Are the issues with this buds widespread or just isolated incidents?
lukinid
I would say there are not widespread issues with this product. As far as I am concerned they are a pretty amazing product with good sound quality. I have not had connection issues with the pair that I have tested and the battery life is also good. So far, they are the best bluetooth earphones I have tested. Cheers.
lukinid
They were garbage for me. Having my iPhone 7 plus in my pocket and walking two blocks made these "skip" like crazy. It reminded me of my old disc-man, and I hated that thing. I returned them and never looked back. These suck big time.
They truly sucks, plagued with issues from day one. Their quality assurance its pretty bad and their customer service much worse. Stay away.
gansodesoya
I for sure had a different experience with the samples that I tested here. Before my first use I installed the latest updates and then started testing them. I never had any connection issues and the sound quality is the best I have heard for this type of device. I hate to hear that any of our community members have had a bad experience with a product. However, I do not think this is the norm as many members have reported back about how well the products work and how great they sound.
gansodesoya
Shame you had a bad experience with them. Their customer has truly been great with me, just to avoid generalizations.
Just got it, the update was painstakingly long (note that before you open the update program, make sure you let your pc install mass storage device first or you'll end up waiting for no reason just to realize it haven't did any thing because it was installing the mass storage device part of it in the background *but you gotta love there "jump cut tutorial") just to finally pair them to play music and find out only the right side plays clear and the left side sounds like white noise or distorted. I"m beyond frustrated, there goes a waste of my time and money. Every second of hearing the distortion, just makes me grind my teeth. Maybe I got a defective one, maybe it was just my luck.
sanislegend
I definitely think that you experience is not the norm. Many community members who have purchased them report back that these are great products. I have tested them personally and will also say that they are pretty amazing. I would suggest that you contact Bragi and start a claim to get a replacement product. I am sorry you had a bad experience the first time around. https://support.bragi.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
When I ordered these earbuds, I just thought they were some cool wireless earbuds. However, upon reciving them, downloading the app, and using them...I can personally say these are the best earbuds I've ever owned. The noise cancellation and transparency is AMAZING. The sound is decent. And the fitness tracking is a wonderful perk. If you're looking for some truely badass earbuds, I HIGHLY recommend the Bragi Dash Earbuds.

Is it possible to use these earbuds one at a time?
the2armedman
I believe you can use the right-side on its own... somewhat like a old-school Bluetooth headset
