No matter what, these are very nice IEMs and for $20.00 or so, they're a bargain, too. It wouldn't hurt to get a little something special along with the IEMs, though...fingers crossed!

sailcatSame. A K7xx would be great, a shure se535 would be fantastic, and I would cry tears if joy if I got anything higher. My wallet would also cry, because of the amp required for the HD 700/800.

Tman450Eh, an objective2 (with ODAC) will drive HD800s just fine. No need to spend a fortune.

ShiranaiI don't doubt it. I have heard the HD800 is REALLY finnicky with amps though. not so much being super hard to drive as just not sounding right with a lot of amps. Also heard that the Matrix M-stage is a good and relatively cheap amp that pairs well.

Tman450Whenever I read people talking about headphones being "picky with amps" and "hard to drive" it always seems like they somehow want to justify their huge amount of spent money. I've tried the HD800 with a couple of amps already, cheap ones and expensive ones. They always sounded more or less the same. Sure, different amps have different sound signatures, but the headphones don't really play a big part in this, imo.

Shiranaiyeah, it seems like a lot of people tend to justify and make excuses for spending more money than was necessary because they don't want themselves and others to see them as suckers so they sometimes come up with strange, convoluted explanations for why whatever they bought was the perfect choice.
