I HIGHLY recommend the pleather pads as an upgrade for the ATH-M50x. Dramatically increases comfort and low-end/sound stage. Skip the velours unless you plan on EQ'ing. They almost completely remove the bass.

MidnightJones100% agree. Sheepskin leather is even better, because it has same sound as pleather but better breathability and a nice premium feel.
