I'm really new to this, but would this be a good pairing with the AudioTech. M50x?

christina.nguyenM50x -- Yes!! But, it can get hot. I keep mine fairly cool by running it sitting on a metal table - any large metal surface is good.

FredrikhLow impedance means less resistance, which means more current goes through, which means more heat is generated by the amp. That is why amps usually have a rating for the minimum number of ohms they can safely drive.

PacketCollisionaah! okey thanks alot man , so you dont want to plug in a pair of 30 ohms headphones to this amp then ? just to get that warm soundsignature i mean.

FredrikhThe specs say "Output impedance: 20 - 600 Ohms" so 38 ohms (what some googling said the m50x ran at) should be fine, but to be safe, don't run it at high volume until you're sure it's not getting scorched at lower volumes.

FredrikhI've used it for a week with 32Ohm headphones cranking the volume as loud as I could handle, and while the body does get quite hot (the entire metal case acts as a heatsink, so it's nothing to worry about), it seems to handle the low impedance with flying colors. Don't worry about it.
This thing has a silly amount of power, so you won't be turning the knob much past 9 o'clock anyway.

FredrikhI did, with a vintage Amperex Holland tube, but I can't honestly say I can tell the difference, given that there's a 15+ minute delay between hearing different tubes for them to cool down and warm up. I'm tempted to get another Bravo Ocean so I can do actual ABX testing with different tubes.
Replacing the tube was easy. Just remove the 4 top case screws and pull the tube out, pop the new one in, screw everything back together and it's done.

PacketCollisionok ! got mine now but it had rust all over the curved metal protection bar around the tub and a little on the blue front surface very dissapointing. i will be sending mine back to get it replaced.
its very strange that alot of companies has so poor quality check even when they send something half way around the world!(live in Sweden).
by the way how long do you let it warm up ? i saw it said turn the power on so the red light shines, give it 30 seconds before moving the volume knob and playing any music on the manual.

FredrikhOh it sucks that yours was rusty. Mine had some sticky residue on it when I got it, but some mild solvent (applied when I took it apart for the tube roll) got it looking nice.
Mine is set up at work, so I usually turn it on when I am getting settled in the morning but don't actually use it for several minutes. I doubt that's necessary though—it seems to start working after about 20-30 seconds (but I'm not sure if the sound changes once it's warmed up).

FredrikhSorry I missed this. The Bravo Ocean gets very hot on most surfaces, and that greatly reduces the tube life. So far the only surface that drains the heat effectively is my Mac Book Pro - the aluminum surface. My glass-top table doesn't do nearly as well.
