MrjsykesYou would be better off investing that money into a better pair of headphones.
If you're dead set on your the HP-800 and want better sound, sure these might improve them depending on what you currently have.

Spicy_Cork_SauceGood headphones are important, but to get the full potential out of those cans, you need an amp. Very few headphones do not benefit greatly from a good amp. Saying you'd be better off buying better headphones really isn't true unless you're still using Turtle Beaches or some such.

RanterbachThanks to both. Better headphones aren't really in the budget. BUT I forgot I purchased an Objective2 that's been collecting dust. so i'm using that now.
Any suggestions for a decent pair of cans ~$200 range?

MrjsykesI recently tried Audio Technica's new ATH-M50x at the London music production expo, Amazon is selling them within $200 and I thought they were as good as my Shure SRH940's (slightly less accurate than the SRH940s, but more body, bass and quieter due to the larger driver) which are just outside your price range. I still rate my Sennheiser HD-25 II headphones as a great sounding, robust and good value headphones which with 60ohm impedance can basically be used as portable speakers. They are not steal me flashy either.

MrjsykesThe AKG7XX right here on Mass Drop would be an excellent choice, and the $199 price is great.
