I have a problem paying top dollar for a product that is probably made in a sweatshop by a nine year old. This bag is portrayed to be made using century old processes in an old world English shop. Just sayin.

JerryatrickAlthough I can't confirm what factory they use, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. British Belt Co. is a relatively small operation and I would hope that they have a much closer relationship with their factories than some behemoth like GAP. And although this is certainly a notable amount of money, this is most definitely not 'top dollar' - see Frank Clegg bags for $1000, or Hermes for $10,000+! Then there are bags from fashion labels that cost a lot more and use worse materials. I was very careful not to imply that this was made in the UK, so if there's anything I can clarify further I'm happy to do so.
At the end of the day, this product will appeal to some people and not to others; that's fine. I just don't want any misinformation or presumptuous conclusions spread around. The rucksack from the same company that we recently ran had a similar response, but when people realized it was an awesome bag at an awesome price the comments quickly went from "why is this made in China?" to "why are all the best colors sold out?"
