chenry99This is for collectors.
$400 is actually a pretty good price for customs and mid-techs. But nobody uses their $400 custom to open boxes and split kindling and cut seatbelts. IT CAN DO THOSE THINGS, and it does them exceptionally well, don't get me wrong. Brous makes serious knives. That's part of the reason for D2, and if you bought one you'd see how well-built they are. But you can also do those things with a $60 throwaway knife. Sensible people who want a knife for work will buy something they can easily replace and won't feel bad about destroying, because that's usually how it goes down after months or years of hard use.
You can carry or "EDC" this knife and show it to your friends and feel like a badass for EDCing a $400 custom, but unless you're an idiot you'll think twice before you use it for any real work. You'll wish you'd brought your Kershaw or your Benchmade that day.
FYI, $600-800 for a real custom is pretty typical these days. Check out Knifecenter and BladeHQ if you're curious.

chenry99Go on Youtube and look for Jim Skelton's channel. He'd call this a mid-tech knife. This is pretty close to the low end for him. Then there's channels like Birdshot IV or LoveThemKnives that review $12-200 range knives.
People love them just for their build quality - same as people collect Swiss timepieces. You can certainly get a Casio for $20 that will keep perfect time, but people are interested in the artisan and technical aspects of a tool. Me? I'll take a pass, but I'd take one if anybody wants to give me theirs!
BTW, the satin version of this knife is $360 at blade HQ, stonewash $400 and black versions between $530-540.

chenry99These are hand ground knives, not mass produced on factory machines.
