Can't be Trusted
Great idea but unit went from showing nearly full charge to shutting down due to low battery with no warning. Displayed 22 hrs of battery at beginning of hike. That dropped to 19 hrs and then powered off all during a 4 hour hike. Unit only operates during the few minutes that you need to get a GPS lock and check headings, otherwise it's powered off. 22 hours should be able to last over many multi-day hikes. I bought this for security, in case my phone dies, but now I know it can't be trusted.

Thank goodness it was inexpensive. Works everywhere you don't need it (in town) and nowhere you do (e.g. Joshua Tree NP).

Very unsatisfied I have many Brunton products and all have exceeded my expectations but I cannot say the same for this one. I’ve tried to use it many times but in most cases it has such poor signal strength that it can’t function to do what it was designed for. I don’t know why someone would use this in a outdoors situation as most have less cellular/satellite signal than an urban area. Maybe it can help you find your car in a mall parking lot where signal is better

The device itself is solid but the ui is poorly designed. But honestly you co ignore the weird interface if it worked at all! I have tried this little thing at lewst on 10-12 different occasion, from hiking near my town to going off grid, it never worked, the signal is always low. I have read people saying it works if there’s not much interference but I took this middle of nowhere and it sadly didn’ Work.
A total rip off. Save your money and buy a proper handheld or watch GPS.

This mini GPS has turned out to be near worthless and I returned it to Brunton for a refund. I tried it out at several locations in Oregon and Washington and it was only able to acquire a satellite lock once. My experience was that it will not work if you are buried in any trees or urban environment with buildings. My phone, however, was able to achieve a GPS connection at all of these locations. So, for hiking in forests it is not reliable.

This is a simple to use GPS device. I needed it earlier when I was traveling but will use it on my next trip. I used it with my scouts to "trackback" a route, and it was easy and accurate to use.
