When is the item going to ship?
Massdrop was flawless as usual, but I'm disappointed with the product., Truearc 20. I read plenty of warnings about the poor quality control at Brunton. Wanted to do my civic duty and order Made in USA vs my first preference of the foreign "S" brand (take your pick). Also, a big part of me like the ability to set the declination without a tool (one less thing to use). Should have gone with my gut and supported a better company rather than some misguided national pride.
I don't have the printing issue. I checked as soon as it arrived. My numbers and hashes are spot on. My main issue is that the rotating baring ring sticks or hangs at some random point. It made it nearly impossible to get an accurate bearing as you needed to twist harder to overcome the "hangup" and would sometimes twist too hard and overshoot and then have to rotate back, etc. After about a week of spinning the ring while watching TV, etc. it is much better and is actually usable now; but, you can still feel a slight hesitation at a point while rotating.
This might be a great feature if it "hung" at due north or something like that; but, it hangs on some strange bearing like 7.5* (don't have the compass with me right now).
This isn't a deal breaker; but, it takes a few grunts to get the declination set just right. You need both hands to push and turn the bezel. You need to push fairly hard, so it's hard to get a precise setting on the first try. Maybe I just have wimpy fingers. I still think I would prefer this over the risk of losing the tool.
I was going to send it back to Massdrop; but, life got busy and I didn't get a chance and probably that window has closed.
Picked this up on the last drop. Developed a bubble at 4,800 feet. Printing issues too like Scosol has mentioned. I may return it to Brunton and go with the Suunto MC2.

Were you able to return the compass? I have one being delivered now, but after seeing these comments I'm getting worried about the quality of the product.
So many negative comments about this product. I'm interested to TruArc20, but haven't been quite sure to buy it.
My compasses just arrived today and I'm concerned that they're fake- see:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NvWg14UCvc
Mine suffer from the same horrible printing. As well, the plastic feels cheap, my needle doesn't sit level, and the insert doesn't contain what's shown on Brunton's site.
I've emailed Brunton Support, let's see what they say.

My replacement compasses arrived from Brunton and they do not suffer from the printing issue the previous ones did. As best I can tell (not having them side by side in front of me), there is no other difference (the plastic still feels "cheap" (which is fine), the needles are designed not to sit level and work well, and the card insert is the same as before (and still not what is on Brunton's site). See the pictures below that show the difference between the printing of the degree markers. Also note for anyone reading this: the white background of the dial area is a *removable* protective film, so the compass can be seen through like every other compass and used for detailed mapwork- even the pictures on Brunton's site show it being used with that white protective cover in place so that is a mistake on their part. Overall I'm satisfied with the compasses (the needle performance is amazing) and Brunton's response to my concerns was exactly as expected. EDIT: looking at the pictures I uploaded, there are other differences: note that the originals I was sent specified Kilometers on the base and all the degree printing is in black (and crooked), whereas the replacements I got specify Miles, and the degree printing is black on the outside and green on the inside (with straight lines).

Do you think you had received older stock on this Drop, maybe...?
Yes... I'm with the waiting as well... I want the cover and the extras... It says 80 units so I'm confused why i can't purchase it
Guess I'll have to wait til next time to get the Brunton TruArc 20 in inches...
Just receive an email announcing a delay in this order. Anyone know anything more about it?

Update: It has shipped. Late by 2 days.
It's $29.99 people. What exactly did you think you were getting. ? Some finely crafted compass from Germany ?

FWIW, these are made in the US. Pretty impressive for the price I think.
Will join if there are metric models. Thanks.

Just join the drop and you'll have a menu of four options - the two models in standard or metric.

Only seems like there is imperial in the TA15 and metric in the TA20. what about the TA15 in metric?
Suunto master race.
I got mine the other day but my needle doesn't sit level when the compas is level. it will bottom out when trying to get a bearing. I have to awkwardly tip the compass to get my bearing. I don't know if anyone else has seen this issue.
Is this in degrees or mils? I'm looking for a good compass in mils.

I would also like to know if the TruArc 15 is metric or imperial.
No shipping cost to Australia?

Hey, the drop is live again and we do ship to Australia. Not sure why you couldn't do this last time. Sorry about that!
I don't like to rag on products but for the life of me I can't figure out why Brunton would make their dial housings opaque white like that. The baseplate is "busy" enough already, but a clear dial housing sure is nice for typical backpacking map work.

You can peel off that white backing, I'm not sure why it is on there. I bought this last time it came up and the degree lines were ridiculously crooked. Also, it was like pulling teeth to move the declination scale... I just threw it out... Worthless junk.
I used to think highly of Brunton. Not anymore. If you want a ginormous bubble bouncing around in the faceplate, buy a Brunton.

Happens to every company. I just had a Suunto replaced last year for a bubble that developed, although it did take a long time. I do prefer Suunto myself, though.
@DannyMilks
Pricing in the picture description is inaccurate (-$4 / +$7 instead of ±$5).

Thanks, fixed!
Being in Australia its a good deal for the Tru Arc 20 but there are none left in mm/cm so I guess I'll have to miss out !

I contacted Brunton and was able to secure a few more TruArc 20 in the mm/cm. I'm sure they'll sell out quickly again so join if you can @dogb8t
"Kirk to Enterprise."
Looks like a cross between a makeup mirror and birth control. Rest assured, the bears won't judge you, man.
I'll toss in my 2 cents here too. I have the Tru Arc 15. For the money, I'd much rather have a Suunto or Silva. There are a number of design features that made me shake my head and ask, "why?" A comparable Suunto or Silva is much more user-friendly.

Replying to an old post, but thanks for the info. Wife and I are going to Scotland for anniversary. I'm going to have to find a shop that has a real Silva. And then convince her that it's worth it.
Just read this older post. But couldn't resist replying. From the looks of it those Silvas seem to be pretty dangerous. ;-) I'd be pretty careful when using one.
This is simply not a good deal. at all.
its $36.66 on amazon prime shipped from amazon (so not a one off deal) that is only $3 more than HERE ???? ($29.99 plus $3.50 shipping $33.49 total)
the model I want (the 20) is even worse. I just bought it off amazon right now for $35 shipped prime. I will have it tuesday.
that model is nearly $41 here. $29.99 plus $7 plus $3.50.
the tru arc 10 is the same price as massdrop. $26.39. oops wait. its $3.50 cheaper since there is the shipping charge mass drop will add while $26.39 is the prime shipped price on amazon right now.
what gives massdrop ? come on. we need DEALS not paying MORE than normal price.
I love mass drop I buy a lot from massdrop. but a bad deal is a bad deal guys.

My bad. Math is right (amazon is $3 more than mass drop for the 15) just typed the wrong values. Should be $33.49 not $35.49.
Point is. Its just a bad deal if you are in the us.

It's all about being an informed consumer. Kudos on the research you did!!
