Hey guys, these magnetic mounts are honestly a little scary to me. I mean, you're putting your phone on strong magnets... anyway, has anyone here damaged their phone after using one of these types of mounts?

Ka-iliI've used these before, the magnet is actually very strong and you don't have to worry about your phone falling off. The cool thing is that you can still take your phone off easily by pulling from an angle, so that it still remains as a functional mount.

HuskySorry, that wasn't my question, but thanks for the reply. I'll clarify: what I meant was, has anyone who sees this comment ever damaged their phone(s) using a magnetic phone mount? The reason I ask is that it's usually a huge risk to any electronic device to have them anywhere near a strong magnetic field. I also ask because I really would rather not damage my phone and would just deal with the typical clunky mount.

Ka-iliI have the niteze steelie mount which has the magnet on the phone side and can say for my phone (Nokia 930/ icon) that it hasn't affected it at all after 6 months. Doesn't even affect the qi charging which is something I thought it would as it uses magnetic induction to charge. Since the magnet on this appears to be on the actual base I don't think you have much to worry about.

EuromyThat's great! Thanks for your reply. I have an iPhone 7 and I found a case that can give it wireless charging capability, so I'm considering my options. I appreciate it!

Ka-iliStrong magnets are not really an issue these days - all the memory is solid state, the screens are led or lcd, not magnetic. The speakers in your phone have very strong magnets, but there is not an issue there. Maybe moving a magnetic mount really fast through some coiled wire could induce a current, but even then most of your phone is wrapped in a faraday cage - I would think you are safe.

Ka-iliNo. Smartphones are way better than they use to be (especially Iphones with an aluminum back). Besides, If it did damage it, chances are bulls eye would pay for the phone.
