Too bad to see Burson going to cheap sheet metal enclosures. One of their selling points was the full bolted aluminum plate 'vaults'. Not that it really affects the electronics, but it makes me wonder what other corners might be getting cut.
BTW, even though it is parroting the Burson website description, the SL is not a full 6mm CNC enclosure. The product description here on Massdrop is misleading. The faceplate and some of the chassis might be 6mm CNC, but the cover clearly isn't.

headphonedudeThe sheet metal stuff has always been and is only on the SL gear and is part of bringing the cost down while maintaining the majority of the circuit of their higher level equipment. There are a few other changes like the volume pot (ALPS RK27, which is still very nice, instead of their own stepped attenuator) and power output.
The standard Soloist and Conductor (now Conductor Virtuoso) still have the tank chassis that Burson is known for.
