Does the product include the "Disclaimer: Caring for the Trees" ?
For hammock campers, we are very conscious for the trees we hang on to, and part of [leave no trace] we often teach our youth is use 1-2 inch wide tree straps. those rope would do damage to tree and primary reason how many parks still ban hammock hanging.
AnteWes@AnteWes - you are absolutely right that hanging a hammock with a rope would likely cause damage to the trees, and thus a wide strap is recommended for wilderness use. Typically hammocks are provided with a basic rope for those who want to use something other than a tree, and we provide an option to upgrade to tree-hanging straps. Unfortunately our vendor does not offer straps, but we will do our best to make this an option in future hammock drops. Our product images show the hammock hanging with a rope on the tree - not a best practice - and we'll try to avoid this confusing messaging in future drops as well. Thanks for bringing this up!
DannyMilksI totally want to buy this now and not wait until the next time it comes around to get the optional tree hanging straps. Any chance you'd get them in now?
Hueston@Hueston - Byer of Maine doesn't offer tree straps, and so I don't foresee straps being added to this drop. I'd suggest getting this hammock and asking around for the best straps. Have you checked out dutchwaregear.com? Good people and great products, but I'm sure other people here can recommend a good strap setup.
DannyMilksThank you Danny, I was referring people who get those as a gift may not aware of the strap. if the product include it in the package, or packaging material, that would be helpful. It take years (if not decades ) for a tree grow to the hanging size.
