BigbeardI would guess it would work for lounging, but wouldn't be comfortable for sleeping. It's only 8'10". I would think you would want something almost 2' longer for comfortable sleeping.
JalucianWhat Mr.Mook said. I'm 6'1" and have a tenancy to have shoulder squeeze in hammocks under 10'. If I'm remembering right Ed Speer recommended your height + 4' for a hammock length in his book.
MouseskowitzCould you recommend a good-quality, affordable, comfortable hammock that can be packed up pretty light for bike-touring/ultralight camping for someone who is 6'1"? Ty.
m0arpheusI've made all my own. So, I really don't have much experience with commercially available stuff. The best thing I can tell you is to get on hammockforums.net and ask the same question. They will be able to help you out with everything you need to know.
MouseskowitzWill do and just did : ) Ty for pointing me in the right direction. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at making my own. Do you have any tips on materials/shops for materials before I go to the forum?
m0arpheusDutchware gear sells ones that get great reviews from the hammock forums. Netless start @ $38 but you will need to buy your own suspension system --- suggest getting at least the version with ridgeline. http://www.dutchwaregear.com/hammock-stuff/hammocks/
